Shop Summary:
Mixed sport shop with bikes, skis, snowboards and paintball stuff.

Customer Service:
I've had mixed communication with this store. When I initally bought my bike the service and staff were great. After winter, I came in for my free tune up and the mechanic caught a couple unsafe part installs and fixed them which I'm grateful for, who knows how long till something bad happened. In writing, however, it was stated I'd be told if I was getting upcharged before any ancillary repairs. I wasn't told, I'm almost broke and the shop owner and I had a pretty big argument on the floor about it. Basically, I expect good businesses to honor their agreements and I was extremely unhappy with how haphazardly the owner of this store treated his own policies.

Other Comments:
Maybe most of this shops customers don't stick up for themselves, but I did, so egos clashed. How can I trust this store again? I can't...

Shop Summary:
Very good when it comes to knowledge and fit. Good at answering questions. Not always clear with procedure.

Customer Service:
My Wife and I have had nothing but problems with this bike shop. We were told something that we had purchased would be ready the next day so we came back. It will be ready in 2 days... Once again came back in 2 days. Got atitude because it had not been done... Came back in another 2 days still not done. Told them we needed the product because we were headed out of town. The manager syas "oh why didnt you say so". 5 min later we were walking out the door with product in hand. I think when you have spent $4000.00 anywhere you should be shown a little respect. Not treated like an idiot. Everytime we showed up there everyone acted so defensive we felt like they were always hiding something.

I have heard other stories from friends as well and they will not go there for the same reasons they have also spent a good $3000+ and are not happy.

If someone is buying a $5.00 part or a $10,000.00 bike you should show them the same respect and courtesy

Other Comments:
It doesnt matter how smart and good someone is at something. If you dont feel comfortable and are made to feel like an idiot or like you are inconveniencing someone then there is no point in waisting your time...

Shop Summary:
Very crowded and allot of old products are they a bike store or a paint ball paradise?

Customer Service:
If that sounds grumpy yes I am! I was treated like a cow pie. I had a few questions about my bike and all I got was attitude even by the stores owner Matt come on if your going to have a business treat potential customers with a little respect.

Other Comments:
Well I will never go back into the store and will tell anyone who will listen to stay away!!

Shop Summary:
Medium sized shop, mostly full of bikes in the summer. In fact, more bikes than anything else, other shops are mostly accessories and clothing. Only downside to the shop is that it can be somewhat interesting locating what I need - sometimes it is hard to find things, but their employees always seem to know exactly where those "hiding" items are.

Customer Service:
Great customer service, they tell you up front what is needed and they don't throw in meaningless add-ons just to grab your money like other shops I have been to locally.

Some of the guys really know their stuff, and the ones who know enough to deal with entry level customers tell you straight out when you get into more advanced stuff. Always a nice touch when an employee admits that they don't know, but then go and get someone who knows exactly what you are talking about.

I recently was shopping a few other shops for a bike, and when I arrived at Alter Ego and told them I was still looking, they asked me what other bikes I was considering and then actually went online and pulled up the specs to compare bikes. I was surprised that the guy actually admitted that in a few respects the other bike had higher end stuff, and then showed me other areas where his recommendation was superior. He then encouraged me to go and search online and get other opinions, totally didn't push anything on me. Ended up buying a bike there and have not looked back. The lifetime tuneups is also nice, I don't know of any other shops out there doing that.

Other Comments:
Personally I don't think anyone can be a perfect 5/5, but these guys are the closest things to it. I have made this shop my only regular stop, and the guys are pretty cool too. Dropped off my bike during the crazy season in April and the wait was about 5 days. I dropped it off and then after picking it up wanted to head out with my pack of friends...their bikes were still at their shops waiting for their tuneups. Their wait was 2-3 weeks at the shops they purchased their bikes from. I ended up getting them to bring their bikes to Alter Ego, and we were on the road before their bikes would have been done at the shops they bought them from.

Keep doing what you're doing guys!

Shop Summary:
Staff knows their stuff. No attitude. Minimal sell the product - forget bout the rest. In fact will give you pros and cons based on your needs. Lots of bikes in shop.

Customer Service:
Went in with my better half who wanted a bike. I know bikes, she does'nt. They talked to her (ignored me), about her riding style, how much she rides, etc., that's a bike shop. No bs They recommended something for her (nothing fancy). I bought some new shocks there...straight guys, easy going. Mentioned at the time I had problems with my LX shifters...said they would see what they could do (instead of trying to sell me a new set). It worked and two years later still working with the same shifters. Good website. I own a winter bike, summer roadie/commuter and mtb. This is the bike shop for me in Winnipeg.
