Bike Shop Owners! We have a new feature we call the Rating Badge. The Rating Badge is a small graphic image (150x58 pixels)
that displays your shop's rating and number of reviews on Mtbr.com. You can put it on your website and it allows all your
customers to review your shop. It also gives new customers the reviews and validation they need to buy from you. Just cut and paste the HTML
code found in the Rating Badge section of your review page. More details about the Rating Badge here»
Competitive Cyclist
Whether it's cracking open a lukewarm mid-ride Budweiser on a night ride, or cracking 9 hours for the golden belt buckle at Leadville, our off-road adventures have been rich, and they've served to remind us that we have a deep bond to our customers for one simple reason: they're no different from us. We all suffer from terminal wanderlust, a condition that takes form in an incurable craving to ride.
Mountain biking is a gear-intensive sport, and that's where we come in. We sell the very finest mountain framesets, bikes, wheelsets, and suspension available. Our mission is to be your oasis amidst the flea-market environment you find all too often in the world of on-line bike retail. The brands we sell -- Intense, Ellsworth, Titus, Ventana, Turner, Mavic, Shimano, SRAM, Manitou, Marzocchi, Fox Racing, Rock Shox, and Formula to name a handful -- are the mountain bike industry elite. Our website is built to mirror the elegance and technological sophistication of the products they manufacture. You'll see that our prices are plenty low. But pricing aside, you'll quickly see that what elevates us above our competition is our ability and willingness to communicate with our customers -- our fellow cyclists, in our mind. Whether it's a technical or practical matter -- "What's the difference between an XTR and an XT rear derailleur?" "What's the status of the order I placed last Tuesday?" -- no other site does more to convey the vital information every serious cyclist desires.
More than anything else, we hope to become your resource as you shop for a mountain bike. We don't have order-taking meatheads answering the phone. Every member of our staff has a grasp of technical detail that's, well, awesome. And we know that the most effective way to share this knowledge is as unpretentiously as possible. We take much pleasure in demystifying jargon. Call us with a technical question, and we'll talk your ear off until we're sure that we're being clear and well-understood. Send us an e-mail and you can expect a reply within hours, not days. You can be assured that we'll build your bike with incredible care -- we receive feedback time and time again lauding us for our ability to make new bikes sing. Beyond this, we'll pack your purchase professionally, we'll ship it promptly, and we'll provide you a tracking number. When it's all said and done, our central purpose is to give you world-class service in an effort to give you total satisfaction with every purchase.

Shop Summary: I have been shopping for the new Blur LT and had a specific idea of the build kit and upgrades that I wanted on it. Prior to checking out Competitive Cyclist, I visited 2 of my local shops that are Santa Cruz dealers. In both cases, they were totally inflexible and insisted that I was limited to the Santa Cruz spec'd build kits and could not upgrade any of the components within those kits - for example, I wanted the X.9 Twist shifters, a King Headset, and the Fox Float with the Qr15 thru axle (and hence the hub to support that). The shops wouldn't do it, and one even recommended that I buy my frame from them and my kit online.
I tried an online store that I had worked with before on simple parts purchases - they were willing to swap out parts, but the guy on the phone didn't appear to know anything about bikes and spec'd me out non-compatible parts. The build that I walked him through cost about $500 more than what I received from competitive Cyclist.
Customer Service: My wife found Competitive Cyclist online for me - I was dubious, but their bike configurator worked so well that I went ahead and spec'd out what I wanted and the price looked good. I called in and spoke to Eric and he dialed-me in immediately. Not only was he totally knowledgeable and helpful, but he seemed as excited as I was about the build I was putting together. Ultimately, Eric even walked my bike through the process to help ensure that I would have it by Thanksgiving and even sent me pictures of it after they built it up.
Other Comments: Because they are in Arkansas - I spent $80 on shipping my bike out, rather than the $350 that I would have spent on Sales Tax had I bought the bike locally.
I received the bike at work yesterday assembled it in my office in about 3 minutes.
I got exactly what I wanted at a great price from people who were obviously bike fanatics. I would recommend Competitive Cyclist to anyone who knows bikes.
Shop Summary: Being in Australia you are a little unsure when dealing with internet sites to buy bike gear. I rang a number of sites and I was immediately put off, by what seemed to be high pressure sales and false promises. Then I spoke to Eric at Competitive Cyclist and it was a totally different situation. He was a down to earth guy who has given 110% service. Everything has been attended to in a most efficient manner. Recently when we were in Canada and some gear was required urgently, Eric made it happen and we got the gear on time. Great Guy & Fantastic service from this shop

Shop Summary: Picked up a 07 Turner Flux to replace my 05 MotoLite a couple weeks ago. Shop is very responsive to inquiries and spent a fair bit on time on the phone with me helping me decided between an El Salt (owned 3 already), Flux and Spot. I even called back and spoke with different people to get their opinions. Good news is that I heard the same thing from different folks in the shop. Definitely a positive thing.
Customer Service: Very responsive and knowledgeable.
Other Comments: Pricewise the deals aren't necessarily as good as some of the other shops that I typically order frames from. However, the service is excellent and they seem to generally have hard to find frames that other shops don't stock.
