Racer Shop Summary: Bikes direct is an online bike shop. Their prices seem too good to be true. After a lot of research I decided to try out a Motobecane Fantom Team.
The specs on the bike were so good that the components alone are worth more than the $1895 price tag. So I thiught at the worst I could use the parts if I did not like the ride.
I was very surprised - this 5" travel FS bike is the real deal. Ride compares well with any high priced high zot name bike I have ever been on - and I have ridden the all.
I do not know how bikes direct does it - but I really do not care - I just know I got a great machine at less than half what a bike shop would have charged. Customer Service: Answered all my questions quickly
Shipped the bike the day after I paid Other Comments: Bike was very well packed

Weekend Warrior Shop Summary: I did alot of research and bikes direct definately has the most bike for the money. The bike arrived quickly and as described. The back wheel has a flat spot that cannot be fixed. My local bike mechanic though it had been dropped or maybe a pallet set on it.Otherwise the bike is great.I am working with bikes direct on a replacement and hoping for the best. Customer Service: Customer service is slow at least a 24 hr response time but what can you expect for the price.Friday I recieved an email asking if I would accept a wheel with a cosmetic scratch on the braking surface that would be rubbed off by the brakes. I e-mailed back and said that would be acceptable as long as it was the same type of wheel as I want the wheels to match. The jury is still out on my wheel. I havent heard from them for 2 business days, hopefully I will hear something today. Other Comments: I will update this post as things unfold, hopefully it will be resolved soon.

Weekend Warrior Shop Summary: Before buying a bike, I did a lot of internet research on the different sellers out there. Although I found both good and bad reviews about Bikes Direct, I decided to give them a try.
My reasons:
1) Several LBStores had employees that were either condescending, apathetic, or just too busy with some task to answer my questions.
2) The bikes they showed me were very expensive, and the components of these bikes were not impressive.
3) The one bike I considered buying from an LBS with helpful employees still did not have the components I wanted, and I would have had to spend much more immediately to upgrade!
4) NOT ONE of the 4 stores I went to offered any incentives other than one free tune-up after 30 days.
I decided to try Bikes Direct, and I was VERY IMPRESSED. I sent them several emails and they responded to all of them quickly, thoroughly, and courteously. In one instance, they emailed me within an hour!
My bike arrived within ONE WEEK, packaged beautifully, without a scratch on it. It was quick and easy to assemble and needed only minor adjustments to the brakes and front derailer. For half of what the LBSs were going to charge me (not to mention tax), I purchased a bike with everything I was looking for. I have ridden it MANY times now (I can't stay off of it) and it rides like a dream. AMAZING.
If you are looking for an affordable bike, please don't be afraid to try them

Cross Country Rider Shop Summary: Ordered a Fantom Pro Ti mountain bike. I received excellent communication and it was shipped within 48 hours. I got the tracking number and it arrived about week later. The bike was perfectly packed and protected.
It took about 45 minutes to install the handlebars, front brake and to align the brake calipers and make adjustments to the derailleurs.
The bike was as described on the Web with no changes to parts.
Prior to the purchase I sent two technical questions to Bikes Direct. I wanted to see how they treated random geek questions. In both cases I received a specific answer within 24 hours of sending the question.
