Shop Summary:
Online shopping for me, good prices maybe but shipping scam ruins the experience

Customer Service:
Very efficient at trying to extort extra money from you

Other Comments:
I ordered a couple of items through their store, paid the calculated international shipping cost as specified through the web store and sat back looking forward to my items.

The next day I get an email, sorry shipping is going to be 4x what we quoted you, do you want to continue. In the end the cost to ship a crankset and handle bars was over half of quotes to ship a whole bike.

Yes the prices may seem cheap but they have ways of making money from you.

Shop Summary:
I ordered a new 26" rear wheel on-line from Performance Bike & a few days later, I received a new 27" rear wheel.

Customer Service:
The customer service experience for this order was bizarre. When I called the customer service line at Performance, I had to plead my case with their rep before they agreed to send a return label for the item at their cost. They start the conversation like their shipping mistake is your fault & all you have to do is ship the item back to them on your dime. After I sent the item back, Performance issued a PARTIAL refund to my credit card, after I specifically asked for the item I ordered to be resent. I called their customer service department again & they finally agreed to apply a total refund. Apparently their policy is to back out the original shipping charges before they process a refund & then agree to add it back to your account only if you ask for it.

Other Comments:
I felt compelled to send a message to the Performance Bike via their Customer Service Department tab. I let them know that I reordered the item thru REI & that the experience was awesome! I've been a Performance Bike customer since 1992 (definitely before PerformanceBike.com existed), but told them not to expect my business in the future. As expected, they didn't take the time to respond to my message.

Shop Summary:
This review is about their online and phone order fulfillment system. I placed an order for bike shorts and a jersey online on Jun 4th. Only the shorts was delivered. After few days i called their customer support to tell them that i did not receive the Jersey. They said that manufacture is not selling that Jersey anymore and if i select another Jersey they would offer me 20% discount and free shipping. I later called them on June 13 to place an order for another Jersey and the representative on the phone gave me order number and told me that i would receive the item in 3-5 days. Till today i did not receive the item. I used the order number the representative gave me to lookup the status of the order number, much to my disappointment that it was a invalid order number. Also, there was no confirmation email from performance bike that they received my order.

It has been a disappointing experience with Performance bike for online and phone ordering.

Shop Summary:
My husband and I ride long distance so we shopped with Performance frequently but no more. I ordered a nice pair of sunglasses on sale for a friend's birthday and they never arrived so I called and they said they did not have an order so I re ordered them and had them shipped directly to the friend. They still didn't arrive so I called again and they said they had no order so I went to the local bike shop (should have done that first) and brought a nice pair of sunglasses. Three weeks later they arrived (five weeks after the initial order). They charged me the full price since they were no longer on sale by the time they got around to sending them. If I wanted to return them I would have to pay the postage.

Customer Service:
Customer Service was extremely unhelpful. The first two gave me answers so quick I doubt they even check the status of my order. The third one listened very carefully but said it was not company policy to pay for return postage. I can understand that BUT it was their fault that it was shipped five weeks late and told me that there was no order when I called to check on it. If they had said it was back ordered I would have waited. This is a small but annoying sale but the lack of willingest to help in the smallest way assures I will not go back for the bigger sales.

Other Comments:
Just to annoy me further they spam me constantly and even unsubscribing doesn't work.

Shop Summary:
My husband purchased a Fuji 29er full suspension mountain bike from a Performance Bike retail store about 18 months ago. He took it into the store to replace a broken suspension bolt. That was 3 weeks ago. Apparently they sent the wrong bolt and now after 3 weeks, they just got the box and RMA label to send the wrong bolt back. The new bolt will not be sent until they get the RMA bolt. Apparently this is because he bought the extended warranty. WTF???

Customer Service:
Service is horrible. They will promise to call you back and then not. They don't see anything wrong with holding a bike for 3 weeks with no estimate for a fix date... and yet my husband (can I review him too?) won't let me go pick up the bike and take it somewhere else for service.
