Cross Country Rider Shop Summary: I was passing through Sendona a couple years ago and stopped in Mountain Bike Heaven to get some trail advice. They were a bunch of jack asses. The first guy I talked to kept kept going on and on, what kind of bike I am riding, how do I rate my skills, what areas I have ridden, what trails at those areas. Then he gave me some vague advise on where to head. If your a local who knows all the trails and someone asks you where to ride it makes sense to ask them what kind of riding they do so you don't waste time telling a cross country rider about trails only a downhiller is going to do. But this guy was just being patronizing. That might be excusable if this was some zit faced kid with low self esteem. But this guy had grey hair. And its about time he grew up. I kept pressing and at this point a lady started to give me some helpful advise. But before I could get the specifics written down this younger kid came over and chewed me out for asking for advise with out buying a map. That is kind of funny because I love maps, collect them in fact, but I didn't want to buy the trail map because I have the map and home and didn't want to drop another $12. Customer Service: Sucked. Other Comments: I don't know about there technical expertise, I do my own repairs.
I didn't bother to check out their inventory.

Cross Country Rider Shop Summary: While visiting my brother and father in Flagstaff, I managed to convince them to go to Sedona for a ride and this is where we rented our bikes. The bikes were in good working order, and they did a nice job of adjusting the suspension for our weights and they were very friendly. My Dad was determined to buy me an early birthday present while I was there. I’ve been thinking about getting some eggbeaters for my XC bike, and although they were marked $100 on the box, and I knew MSRP for Eggbeater C’s is $65, but since he wanted to get me something now, I went for the eggbeaters despite the price. He ended up cutting is a special deal and giving them to us for $90 (so nice of him). Customer Service: There were some mounting screws for the cleats missing from the box, the shop guy said “I don’t know why they put eight screws in there, but I’ll give you some more” and he stuck two screws in the empty wholes in the foam packaging. When I got home and went for my first ride I noticed that my toes on one foot instantly went numb. I figured out why they had eight screws: 4 long screws for use with shims, and 4 short for if you don’t use the shims. I had 6 long screws, 2 short screws and I didn’t use the shims so the ends of the screws were poking ever so slightly into the bottom of one of one foot. I’m sure they would have fixed the problem if I had gone in and shown them, but since I live in Washington, I couldn’t do that. Other Comments: –1 chili for being over priced, and –1 for making my foot go numb on my first ride with the new pedals.

Cross Country Rider Shop Summary: This shop is great- they helped me out big time after I had driven all the way from California out to Sedona to ride some of the trails in the area. I learned (at the trailhead) that my local shop had completely mangled my hydraulic brakes and that I had no rear brake. I stopped by mtn bike heaven on the saturday morning before xmas and these guys had my brake line fixed within 30 minutes or so and saved my day of riding for a very, very cheap price.
I will always be grateful for these guys getting me back on the trail so quickly (and cheaply) and definitely highly recommend this shop. They also have a good selection of pads (knee, elbow, etc.) at the shop (good to have if you're riding on red rock)!
Customer Service: Superb!!!
