Shop Summary: Retraction of the review posted by me on April 28th, 2008.
Customer Service: I am writing this in regards of the review I wrote on April 28th for Performance Bicycle.
First off, i am a 16 year kid who thinks i can get away with bad mouthing innocent people. I made a whole lot of mistakes in writing the review on Performance Bicycle in Tucson, Arizona. I really don't know what I'm talking about and i really messed up. The people that work there are good people who help in any way they can. I had one problem with one of the employees there in all of my time of shopping there, but other than that, I have had no trouble with Performance. I lied about the fact that I bought the $1100 bike. My dad bought the bike for me for my birthday last year.
Other Comments: I didn't know that all bikes come with derailleur hangers that are made from aluminum. Performance Bicycles even gave me a free hanger for the bike. Every other hanger I have bought from them has been my problem because I broke them, or twisted them, or damaged them in other ways which is nobody's fault, but mine. I lied throughout the whole review and I'm sorry. I was very frustrated with having to buy derailleur hangers and i don't know how to handle my frustration. I go off and do radically stupid things to vent my frustration. So I'm sorry. Thank you - Nick,

Shop Summary: Really nice shop. I love it in there because they have a pretty good selection of components for a reasonable price and they moved all storage to the basement so the basement is employees only.
Customer Service: I hate this stores custmer service. First off, they are run by a bunch of punk kids who think they know everything to know about bikes and most of them dont really ride. The mechanic there is an ok dude but everyone else just get on my nerves. they also steal so much from people. I bought an IronHorse Azure for $1100 and i love the bike. It came with an Aluminum derailleur hanger that bent with the littlest touch. So i had to buy a couple of them $20 a piece. It really frustrated me after the 4th one. As i was walking around the store i noticed that on the back of one of the tags was an extra der hanger!! so i immediately went to the manager and asked him about it. He said that all bikes come with an extra one, but they keep them. They keep the stuff you buy and try to sell it to you. They steal money!!! All they want is to suck every penny out of you. They think they know everything and then they steal your money. I guess its a good thing i get the greatest discounts from my step-brother. Haha.
Other Comments: Bottom Line: i shop there still, but only because i know my way around a bike and if your new to biking, go to a small box store, one where the mechanic and the manager are the same guy. I only shop there becuase i get such a steal with the family discount that $20 isn't bad anymore

Shop Summary: Horrible shop!! It is the Walmart of bike shops!! I used to go there when I was in college because of their cheap prices. Don't be persuaded by the sale prices! About two years ago I purchased an E3 Form saddle (Performance's own brand) for $99. A few rides later, the saddle cracked so I took it back to the store. They let me switch it out for a new one, no questions asked. I thought this was a good deal considering how much I spent on the saddle. Well, a few rides ago, the rails snapped off of the saddle, annd proceeded to bend. Needless to say, the saddle was trashed. I brought it back into the store to simplyy return it for the $99 I paid for it. The marked price on the wall was $99, but when I went to return it, the manager would not give me the marked price back on the saddle, stating that the saddle was to go on sale for $45, and I could only get the $45 since I didn't hve a receipt. All this, despite the marked price being $99. When I asked her when the saddle would retrn to the original $99, she said that it would never be that price again. This alone is a testemant to how they overprice their products, only to continually run them on sale to make the unsuspecting customer think they are geting a great deal.
Customer Service: The customer service is horrible, and the staff knows nothing except perhaps how to ride a bike, but even that's pushing it. I will NEVER return to this store or give them any business, even if they were the last shop in town.
Other Comments: DO NOT SUPPORT THIS STORE! HORRIBLE SERVICE, HORRIBLE PRICES!!

Shop Summary: Very large shop and has a basement with even more area. A lot of people hate on Performance for being a "popular" chain and will only go to boutiques. I can honestly care less about that and Performance is open until 9pm so I can realistically make it there after work.
Customer Service: Never had a problem, they have a high turnaround and you don't have that small-shop intimacy with them but I don't care. In my experience, they've been good with me over the phone and in person.
Other Comments: Easy, open until 9pm, employees treat you as well as you treat them so I'm ok with that. I've never used them for mechanic work since I do it myself, but just be weary of the person working on your bike. I have seen some stupid mistakes comes from their mechanics.
Also, don't look to them for great advice. You can pick some out of the bunch who know what they're talking about, but they will still push products against they're own better judgment.

Shop Summary: This has has great management and very friendly and knowledgable staff on hand to answer any questions you may have. I have bought 2 bikes from them, and have gotten both of them at great prices. I can't say enough about the customer service. Anytime you have a question or need help making a decision the staff is more than happy to drop what they are doing (so long as they aren't helping another customer, then they get someone to help you). The mechanics they have downstairs are great, and do everything they can to get the bike exactly how you want it. I would seriously recommend this shop to anyone in the Tucson area.
