Cross Country Rider Shop Summary: The single best shop I've ever been in! Dave (the owner) blows me away with his incredible knowledge and professionalism. His shop is small with few products for sale, but he stands behind the functionality and quality of everything he has. He isn't into selling fads, he only sells products he knows will work. He makes any other wrencher I've ever met seem inexperienced, when local bike shops can't fix it they send it to him. If your into biking and in Sedona, this a must. Bring your bike you have 'dialed' in so Dave can really get it set up for you. Customer Service: Nicest guy you'll meet in Sedona, its great living in a town with a man of his ability. Something breaks on my bike, I don't freak out, I take it to Dave. Dedicated, knowledgeable, friendly, and very affordable in a town known for expensive costs. I never write reviews, but this place impressed me enough to take the time and sit down to do this. I feel like I owe it after all the complimentary work I've had done on my bike.

Cross Country Rider Shop Summary: The Fat Tire Bike Shop is a small, yet very efficiently run shop. The owner/Dave Cichan was present each of the 4X I visited the shop during my week vacation in Sedona. There are no lines of bikes for sale and only a small inventory of essential equipment and soft goods available for purchase. However, a wealth of knowledge of the area, a high level of technical expertise and very honest & forthright communication skills make this one of the very best bike shops I've ever been in. Mtn. bikes were front and center, yet there were a couple high end road bikes being worked on here as well. Customer Service: Carbon fiber Ibis Mojos make up the rental fleet. They are such a sweet ride! Dave made a point of setting up my rental exactly like my tailor fit, XT equipped, Mojo I have at home. He then proceeded to highlight the local trails map specifically to my riding ability (Intermediate-I'm 60). He also told me there would be some portions which were more technical and I'd have to hike my bike. I felt confident enough to set out on my own, with all my own gear & hydration. I was rewarded, one 2.5 hour ride and a 3.5 hour epic for me & the Mojo. The rides were awesome & beautiful, pressing my abilities just the right amount without causing too much anxiety. It was great not to get "sandbagged" by a local! And I have been before! Other Comments: Dave is also a great communicator. He's deeply involved in the politics regarding the local trail usage policies, Forest Service, etc. In a short amount of time he was able to inform my wife & I concerning the state of affairs in Sedona, while keying us in on great food and activities we might be interested in during our stay.
And for you "Big Dogs", guess who gets to show Mr. Brian Lopes the local hidden gems when he's in town to ride?! Yeah, you guessed it, Dave Cichan. If you're in the vicinity, make sure you have Dave take care of you. He's the kind of local guy you always want to interact with at a new area to ride! Info, wisdom, mechanical & technical skills...You'll find them all at The Fat Tire Bike Shop.

Cross Country Rider Shop Summary: This shop seems to cater to a MTBR type of crowd. Small, efficient, cut to the chase on equipment and immediate mechanical care for riders is evident.
There are no lines of bikes for sale, or big shelves filled with gear. It is a small, okay tiny shop but its the real deal. The overall rating is a bit lower due to a small inventory, but high grades for mechanics and technical expertise. Customer Service: Very good for the rider who is passionate about riding. Upfront, honest, and true to their word. Other Comments: I came in looking for tires. I purchased a pair of Maxxis DH Minions on the advise of shop owner Dave Cichan. It was nice that he carries a simple but very effective line of tires that work in Sedona chunk, sand, and rocky terrain. He also helped with a brake adjustment free of charge and was happy to spend time offering ideas of where to ride. Next door is a cafe that has a great lunch menu as well.
