High Gear Bike Shop

Average Rating:    (4.75 of 5)

No. of Reviews: 4

High Gear Bike Shop is right downtown in Prescott Arizona. The staff are very very helpful, and they have a very good set of mechanics. High Gear may be a little more pricy than Bike Smith or Ironclad, but the service is so much better, the extra $ is well worth it. High gear has everything that the average biker needs, and for those that are more than that of the average, they can always order for parts.

High Gear is family owned and operated for over 30 years. The staff is courteous, knowledgeable, friendly and very patient. My wife and I recently purchased mountain bikes at High Gear. I estimate that we consumed about 5 hours of their time asking questions, taking test rides, and eventually making the purchase. It was clear to us that we could rely upon the people at High Gear to be there should we ever need any support. This is a far better situation than if we had purchased the same bikes from a nomadic 20 year old clerk at some large sporting goods store. Who knows how long the clerk will be there and who really knows to what extent the sporting goods store will stand behind the product they sell. All in all we bought a great product, at a great price, from honest and reliable people.

Shop Summary:
Professional, capable, reasonable. Often little things "get done" while what you asked to 'be done' is finished and that doesn't change the quoted price. Very nice.

Clean, fully stocked, easy to access, street and off street parking. A house type shop but fully a business. Great place inside, many wonderful products and lots of old 'bike' antique type photos and parts, neat.

Customer Service:
Of the five people that I've encountered over the two visits (went back
to High Gear for two seats and a fine tuning of the front derailleurs),
three have engaged us in conversation. One was a ways back working on a
bike and the other was at a computer but did say 'hello.' I think some folks are just rather quiet but overall the folks at the shop are friendly. The expertise is evidenced by the number of people who come in for purchases and service (while there only about 40 minutes we say three people come in to drop off bikes and at least one pick up his repair). Prices are very good. We paid about $7 for the adjustment and the installation of a new seat was free (the seat was fair priced, we'd checked online and it is / was competitive). Very excellent experience and frankly we will not go elsewhere for bicycle parts or service.
Thanks Billy, excellent service.

Other Comments:
This is our bike shop in Prescott from now on. Certainly the better one of the two we've experienced. Good and pleasant experience

Shop Summary:
Steve and the guys and High Gear are great. They have been more help than I ever could have asked for. Just great customer service. Good prices. and they stock just about everything. I was in last week and there was something I was looking for that they didn't have, I didn't order it but they went ahead and ordered it just to have in stock. That's what I call great customer service.

Very Helpful Staff, very knowledgeable, excellent mechanics. A one stop shop for all of the biking needs that one would ever encounter.

Customer Service:
Fantastic, always helpful.

Other Comments:
Very friendly staff, although they may not have the cheapest prices, it is so worth the extra money because of the service. Plus they give discounts to students with RCards.
