Neighborhood shop that carries mountain, road, and cross, but should really only carry road and cross. The shop is capable, but from my experience not with high end mountain bikes- unless you want a pre-built Scott or Kona. For example, they would not help send my Marzocchi fork back for repair.
I had the shop build up a custom-built Foes 2:1 FXR and a Kona Jake the Snake. Below is our last email correspondence. I was taken aback by the owner's response given it was my first time with a complaint. You be the judge.
"I am sorry that you are not happy with the quality of work here at East Sac.
We have tried our best to meet your needs, but it appears that our level of service is not up to your standards.
Best wishes in finding a shop that will make you happy."

Subject: Foes work
"Jesse,
I am not 100% satisfied with the crown race work done on the Foes. I know the shop did the best it could. I took it as that, but today I showed a few friends who work at other shops in the Bay and here is what they said:
1. A small screwdriver could have been used to pry up the crown race to allow access for the tool. They have worked on that fork before.
2. I should have been given a new King race to replace the one that was destroyed.
3. The fork should not have been marred.
Even if East Sac felt that they were taking the correct route, I feel like I should have been called before a Dremel is taken to my bike- especially if some damage could be done.
I am all about supporting the local bike shop, and usually give them the benefit of the doubt. I was wondering about the work when I picked up the bike, but I assumed there was no other around it at that time. To tell you the truth, I was disappointed that you didn’t pull a crown race out of the case from another headset and give it to me, and that I paid full price for the work. But, I’m all about supporting the local bike shop so I paid what I agreed to pay.
Back in San Jose, if the shop marred my bike they wouldn’t have charged me for the work. And, I know the wrench who built all my other wheels would have taken care of the rattling sound in the rims and taken apart the King hub to investigate the backpedal drag f.o.c., as well as replace that one spoke on the back wheel after I pointed it out on my first ride (in all fairness they use pre-cut DT Swiss spokes). But, that’s a different bike shop in a different city with a different clientele.
I must have dropped at least $15k at that shop in SJ, and have no qualms about it looking back. The only negative I can recall is that I spent too much money there! I believe I spent ar
Shop Summary: Although this is not pertaining to mountain bikes, I feel it necessary to alert potential customers to my situation. It's a nice LBS. Not stuffy. Knowlegable and well read on what they sell. I got a really good deal on a new (NOS '07 Scott SL) and am couldn't be more pleased with my new ride.
Customer Service: This is the fly in the ointment. I received no literature on my $3K plus purchase. Just a cash register reciept. I got a 20 minute initial fit that would get me by til I got my form back. I stopped by for a more finite fit and the owner, Jesse, stated that,"I sold that bike at internet price. I don't want to ever see it again". He did say that he'd do a fit for 1/2 price which probably , at this point, meant "you need to buy this and this and this". I was told when I purchased the bike that fitting would always be free and I'd get a break-in tune up for free. None of this is going to occur according to the OWNER. I hope I never have a warranty concern
Other Comments: I would not purchase a roll of bar tape from this schmuck

Shop Summary: The shop is clean and uncluttered which makes it easy to move your gear in and out for service. They carry a great selection of bikes, parts and clothing.
Customer Service: It's not often that a service department (for any company) exceeds expectations and beats estimated time-lines. I needed a Marzocchi 66 installed and I needed it in short order. These guys were not only generous enough to move my service up to accommodate my ride schedule, but they finished my service 24 hours earlier than estimated. When I failed to provide an (out of stock) adapter for my Avid brakes, the technician wrapped my caliper in bubble wrap and zip-tied it to my fork post. It's that kind of care and respect for a customer's equipment that counts.
Other Comments: After reading the initial review of East Sac B&B posted here at MTBR.com (by "Shoyu"), I felt hesitant before scheduling my service appointment. But, after the flexibility, courtesy and accommodation these guys showed me, I'll certainly deal with this shop again and again.

Shop Summary: Read my original shop description. You decide if you want to give this shop your money. If you spent $5k on bikes and components at a shop, would you want to be treated like that?
Customer Service: The shop is unfamiliar with high end mountain components, repair, and fine-tuning. They would not be the best choice to dial-in a fork or rear shock. They did not know how to remove a crown race from a Marzocchi fork without destroying the race. They refused to help me service my Marzocchi fork. I had to send it in myself.
Other Comments: My ratings refer to mountain bikes.
