Shop Summary:
Great shop, bought both my MTBs from here. Like the others have said, once you walk in the door, you are immediately asked if you need any help, just let them know. Lots of stuff to look at from bikes to clothes to pumps etc.

Customer Service:
Customer service is great, but the one thing that bothers me is the Lead Mechanic isn't too customer service oriented. Don't get me wrong, every time I bring in my bike for a tune up, everything works, it's just the attitude that I don't like. If she got rid of the bad attitude, things would be better.

Shop Summary:
Great bike shop. Excellent selection of bikes. Very knowledgeable staff. They have a very good selection of bike gear including outfits and clothing. Parking in Alameda is great, easy. Very easy to find location near Oakland, off 880 freeway and not very far from BART Fruitvale Station.

Customer Service:
Customer service is very good. These guys listen, they know all the product. It seems like they do a good job of helping each other out with questions and requests from the customers. Gene, who runs the shop, and his other folks in there take great care of me. I'm on my second new bike in there in less than and year (both hybrids: Giant, Specialized) and things have worked out great. Once we were clear on the kind of bike I wanted we got him ordered, customized and we were rolling.
Among the great pluses with these guys is they offer lifetime care and adjustments for your bike and they are able to do repairs in house in Alameda and they have a satellite shop (Fruitvale Bikestop) in Fruitvale Village at the Fruitvale BART Station. As an added plus, they offer parking for your bike all day while you commute on BART on a first come first served basis. Nice outfit. Great place to buy a bike

Other Comments:
If you spend any money at all on a bike and deal with Alameda Bike Shop you see that the "service" is just as important and maybe more important than "how much" you paid for the bike you are riding.

Shop Summary:
the shop is a set up real well..ive been to a lot of shops that are just to crowded with stuff but this is nice and open but well inventoried...a great selection...from bikes to shoes to clothing and all between...my loyalty will lie with this shop!!

Customer Service:
i felt the customer service was great...i had someone helping me from the time i walked in untill i left...this was my first purchase and they were extremely helpful and informative on all the info i needed to know as a first time bike owner. another thing, they were totally honest...you would figure they would tell you what to upgrade on you bike in order to make money for themselves but they didnt try to sell me any other unnecessary components. he was upfront and saud he would replace anything untill it was wornout or broke...i highlly reccommend this shop...great atmoshpere and great people!!!

Shop Summary:
I bought my first mountain bike back from this shop in 1995 and just recently bought a new bike from them in 2006. They've expanded their shop since then and it's always a good experience visiting them for maintenance or purchasing accessories/equipment. The shop has a nice hometown feel to it.

Customer Service:
If the staff isn't already helping other people, I'm usually greeted by an employee and asked if I need help with anything. Very friendly and easy going. The staff are very knowledgeable and seem to know what they're talking about. I've only brought in my bike for minor maintenance needs a few times, but for the most part, they've helped me everytime, fixing the problem on site.

Customer Service:
I bought two bikes from the shop and thought I was a good customer. In July, I brought both bikes in for a tune-up. When I dropped the bike off the lead mechanic had a bad attitude and things only got worse. I can honestly say I have never been more poorly treated. When I finally got the bike back, the work done was shoddy, some of the work was not done and the bikes were completely out adjustment. I commented on the poor treatment and the mechanic became argumentative. When I got the bikes back the claim check had the words "big jerk" written on it, apparently referring to me. I just upgraded to a Marin Mt. Vision from another shop. Beware.
