Bike Shop Owners! We have a new feature we call the Rating Badge. The Rating Badge is a small graphic image (150x58 pixels)
that displays your shop's rating and number of reviews on Mtbr.com. You can put it on your website and it allows all your
customers to review your shop. It also gives new customers the reviews and validation they need to buy from you. Just cut and paste the HTML
code found in the Rating Badge section of your review page. More details about the Rating Badge here»

This is the retail outlet of Adrenaline Bikes, the famous mail-order company. Overall, I'd say that although it is not the largest of shops, they more than make up for it by having tons of cool & unusual stuff that I haven't seen anywhere else locally. There is so much stuff squeezed into the shop that they look like they need to rent more space.
They advertise that they are the largest dealer world-wide for Yeti, Foes, Marin Full Suspension, etc. I counted 61 bike frames of all types hanging from their frame wall and from the ceiling, and about 60 assembled road and mountain bikes on display (Yetis, Merlins, Litespeeds, Lynskey Ti, Foes, Versus, Rocky Mountains, Brodies, and a lot of others.) There were none of the boring standard brands (Trek, Specialized, Cannondale, etc.) which was nice. They also had a large number of high-end parts (Over 100 suspension forks on display for example, including about 40 Fox models and even some unusual ones like Maguras.)
As far as bikes for sale go, they can sell you a heavily discounted bike build kit plus a frame, and allow you to swap-out and customize the parts. Then they'll assemble the bike for you in a few days. There is a folder on the counter that had lists of the various build kits with prices. They did not have all 14,000 items from their website on hand, but one of the guys said that they can have anything on the site 2nd-day aired to them for no extra charge to you if you put down a deposit. They don't keep a lot of clothes on hand, and no bikes below $600. (Most bikes were $900-$3,000.) Everyone seemed pretty knowledgeable, and there was a low-key, no-preassure atmosphere. (No high-preasure sales people.) Neal, the manager races cycle-cross, and competes in 12 and 24 hour races. Some of the other employees race too, but they were not the typical snotty elitist racer types.
Price-wise, they had some stuff at about retail, but almost all the bikes and many of the component parts were pretty heavily discounted. (Some of the bikes were half off for last year's models for axample.) I asked, and they said that they will match most competitor website/catalog prices.
Another local bike shop told me that they were all mail order, but I talked to the owner (Jim) who said that they actually sell about half of their stuff at the store. I picked up a blown-up copy of their ad from Mountain Bike Action magazine while I was there, which lists other bike brands that they sell: Mountain Cycle (which were all half off), Banshee, BMC, Salsa, Moots, Surley, Brooklyn, etc. They claim to sell over 100 brands of bikes, many by special order, which sounded bogus until I went to their website, which lists them all in the 'about us' section.
I'd say that even if you are just in the Orange County-L.A. area vacationing and do not need any bike stuff they are worth a trip to see, just because they have so many different bikes that you will probably never see in person elsewhere. |

Downhiller Shop Summary: Adrenaline bikes is THE ONLY shop to go to in the Orange County area or ONLINE that has the stuff that the REAL riders are craving... "Show me something i've never seen before" is what i say to Jesse (the manager) every time that i go into the shop...he hasn't let me down once and i've been visiting Adrenaline's retail storefront at least once every two weeks for years. The shop is small but they've got a great selection of some of the highest rated bikes on earth. Customer Service: The customer service at Adrenaline is the reason that i continue to go back. Bikes are a very personal thing. Style, riding position preference, budget, etc etc. should all be addressed when purchasing a new bike or an expensive part for a bike that you already own...and these guys hit the nail on the head every time. It's not often that the staff at a bike shop guides you to the BEST PART or bike for you, instead of just guiding you to the newest OR most expensive part. Kudos to Jim and Jesse for runnin' a really tight ship Other Comments: They do group rides!
This is important for someone who's trying to improve their riding skillz. I bought a Kestrel road bike from these guys last year and didn't know ANYTHING about being a 'roadie.' But after a couple group rides on Saturday mornings (before the shop opens), i knew A LOT and was very comfortable on the bike...
In short: these guys do what it takes to keep their customers happy and coming back. They are the cream of the crop in SoCal.

Weekend Warrior Shop Summary: Shop has a great selection of mountain bikes and road bikes -- for all riding styles (XC, DH, AM, Road, etc...). I bought a Yeti from them and have had zero issues with it since we picked it up. The prices they offer are lower than just about anywhere and they are able to get whatever you need quickly if they do not have it in stock. They have been happy to show me how to do some maintenance/work on my bike myself and are more than happy to walk you through solving problems over the phone. Customer Service: I think that they offer great customer service -- consultative and professional. They give you options and recommendations for whatever it is that you are looking for. Matthew and Jesse provide exceptional service. I had a new set of wheels built up and Matthew did a phenomenal job and I am very happy with them. Getting some new brakes installed this week. Other Comments: Overall a top-notch shop and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. Great service, exceptional prices and I feel like I get very good advice.

Weekend Warrior Shop Summary: Has pretty good selection. Customer Service: Has pretty good selections, and Jesse will try to take good care of you. So why the bad rating? Because the owner, in my opinion, commits cardinal sin of local bike shop: Not standing behind the product that he sells.
The bike I bought had couple mechanical issues. It turned out to be a chronic problem that was difficult to solve, and over the period of about 9 months, I had to take the bike back to shop numerous time, sometimes every week. Well, I think any serious biker can imagine how frustrating such scenario would be. Not being able to ride at times, wasting time and gas driving back and forth to the bike shop. But this is not my main complaint, because Jesse continued to work with me to try to correct the problem. And the bike manufacturer itself did everything it could to remedy the problem. The only inept link was the owner. He basically decided oneday that he wasn't going to stand by the product that he sold, and became downright hostile, and demanded more money to correct the issue. He even blamed me for choosing medium size rather than large size frame, which had no connection to the mechanical problem. Other Comments: The last thing one needs after 9 months of frustration to correct problems is hostility from the owner rather than assistance. If you think you are not going to have any long term problem or issues with your bike, go to this shop. Otherwise, do not go to this shop because a bike shop is as good as its owner's philosophy, and this owner will not stand by his product.

Weekend Warrior Customer Service: I'm going to have to say that customer service is poor. I was shopping some online retailers for a set of disc brakes for a new build when I found some on their site. After seeing their price match offer I decided to take them up on it. I found the same brakes for about 50 bucks cheaper on another site. I submitted my price match numerous times and never got a response. I assume this company does not need my business or just dosen't have the courtesy to tell me that they cannot match that price. I won't be back.

Weekend Warrior Shop Summary: This was an online purchase. Customer Service: I ordered a Colnago Master X-Light online. Generally good communication with Jesse during wait for bike. With Jesse's advice ended up with a beautiful and functional setup. I would purchase here again (if I ever tire of the Colnago.)
