Racer Shop Summary: I recently was up for a weekend of riding the lifts. I needed a brake bleed on my front brake. I had the bleed kit w/ me but wasnt confident doing it myself. The owner(cant remember his name) took my into the mechanics area and gave me a full tutorial on how to do it. He was super friendly about it. Also I needed some pedals ( I forgot mine at home). They didnt have the crank bro's style I wanted. So Derek sold me a gently used set off his own bike for an incredible deal. All I can say is they made me feel like I was a local in the shop. The service, friendliness, knowledge was way above and beyond. They even told me how to get to some secret trails off the lift that were gnarly! The shop is small but it has high end stuff. The funniest thing was there was a big brown labrador half sleeping on the couch as you walk in. He didnt move an inch the whole time I was there with people, music, etc-hilarious. Overall they just make you feel like you belong and no big box store BS. Thanks guys! Other Comments: One of the mechanics there is a UCI trained mechanic that worked the Mavic neutral car for the Tour of California.

Racer Shop Summary: There is no other place like it. Bear Valley Bikes is a mom and pop bike shop where everything is done with love. The mechanic, Derek Hermon, is extremely knowledgable and friendly. They have great Specialized bikes in stock. If you are looking for a deal on a new Specialzed, make sure you call them. This place is steeped in mountain bike racing history and you will always meet some racers if you stop there. If you are looking for sponsorship as a racer make sure to stop in a nd see Derek. In a world of chain stores, money and rushing around it is nice to know that places like this still exist.
