Customer Service:
Bought a bike from marc. He seemed very nice. Told me the bike came with clipless pedals and a lifetime warranty. Both were lies. 5 year warranty and no pedals. No big deal. This maniac sells me the bike and then accused me of stealing pedals ??? I took my bike in for service . Was charged and the service wasn't done. Marc proceeded to berate me called me a liar and a thief ??? When I questioned him he got on his phone saying he was calling the police on me ??? His bike mechanic just went about his business and didn't even look up. Poor guy. PLEASE DON'T MAKE THE MISTAKE I DID AND BUY A BIKE FROM HIM !!! Ask around . His reputation is VERY BAD !!!

Marc here from Centre City Cycles. I would normally not respond to such lies, but here goes. Customer got the bike for my cost on a closeout deal. Bike is not spec'd with pedals from Scott. Bikes are sold with manufacturers warranty. Customer crashed bike and taco'd rim and wants a free wheel. Scott was kind enough to send him a new rim and was only charged for shipping and relacing. Customer got his wheel. Customer wanted us to work on rest of bike. Customer and his friend worked on his own bike incorrectly which we refuse to correct their work. Customer made verbal threats so I told him to leave.

Shop Summary:
The store is very cramped and unorganized. You can not look at all store merchandise due to the amount of unsold bikes, as well as bikes that are waiting for repair.

Customer Service:
The service is ok when the owner is trying to sell you a bike. However, Marc, the owner of the store, does not understand how to keep a customer returning. Since my purchase I noticed how arrogant and rude he is, especially when servicing a bike. I have since taken my business elsewhere and have purchased two bikes from his competitors.

Shop Summary:
I have been going to this store for about a year. After taking my bike to several shops for shifting issues, I brought my bike here to see if they could figure it out. Marc went through my bike looking at everything from my shifters, cables, derailleurs, hangers, and within 20 minutes, he had my bike shifting better than it had ever shifted before. At the time, there wasn't too many bikes or parts in there but every time I go back there is more and more bikes and parts. Now, the shop is pretty much built out with a good selection of stuff and there is now another full time mechanic there.

Customer Service:
Always the best customer service.

Other Comments:
It's pretty cool to have another choice of bike store around here besides the chain type stores or the bigger stores that aren't as friendly or personal.

Shop Summary:
Just thought you should know…

I purchased a new Scott Scale 29er Elite online from Centre City Cycles, 2065 S. Escondido Blvd, Escondido, CA 92025. I paid for the bike, in advance, via a PayPal invoice. After receiving the bike, I took it to my local bike shop here in Ogden. Turns out my local bike shop found damages on the frame and the fork. The worst damage was that the front wheel hub had gouged an area about 2” by ¾” on the frame. It appeared that the hub had been impacting the frame continuously during shipment, so the bike was not packed properly. The hub had clear coat and paint on it. The other damages made me wonder about the history of the bike; is it really ‘new’?

I had asked Centre City Cycles for a replacement of the frame, as I wanted the bike, or a refund. I received this response:

"I sincerely feel bad that this happened to you. I wish you the best." signed Marc Day.

Customer Service:
Marc Day, I believe, is the owner of Centre City Cycles. His position is that he’ll nothing about this, including accepting a return or make any effort to correct the situation. After I filed a dispute with PayPal, he immediately elevated the dispute to a claim. It’s curious why he would think that PayPal would resolve the claim in his favor.
PayPal resolved the claim in my favor and instructed me to return the bike to him. Marc Day has done everything he could to make this a long drawn out matter. I’ve had to pay my local bike shop for a bike build and then for boxing the bike. I also had to pay for the return shipping. So I’m out about $200 along with 2 months of aggravation! Today, Marc Day refused delivery of the bike and it’s being returned to me!

Other Comments:
To me, ski shops, bike shops and other specialty sports shops help people realize their passions. I’ve dealt with many shops like this over the years and the reason that I go to them is because of their expertise and sincere interest in seeing that you get the appropriate gear. It seems obvious that Marc Day does not subscribe to this notion. Further, he’s about as dishonest as he could be.

just curious, did you end up getting a refund? or kept the damaged bike?

Customer was shipped a brand new bike double wrapped in foam! Customer opens box at home and inspects the bike and has no issues. Two days later he brings the bike to his LBS to put the rest of the bike together. Another two days later, his LBS calls him to tell him there were some scratches on the bike. Customer demands a new frame or $500! I told him to make a claim with UPS but UPS said he waited too long and, of course, any evidence of box damage was lost. Just seems suspicious that it took 5 days to have his LBS claim there were scratches. I know that if I got a brand new bike, I would have checked the bike out completely myself first thing and report any damage immediately.
