Shop Summary:
They take several days to fix even a minor problem like a blown tire or rear derailleur tune.

Customer Service:
Fine and cheap prices.

Other Comments:
I was going to give this shop a higher review but the other reviews made me think that maybe they contributed to my bike's demise (it's currently in the garage collecting dust). What this bike shop didn't know (and I didn't either at the time) was my rear axle was BROKEN and yet they still tuned the rear and front deraillieurs. Keep in mind that I broke the axle not them. The bike actually worked (due to the skewer holding the back together) but I always wondered why the rear wheel was pointed slightly to the left, and why I could not tune the rear derailleur myself as I did with a previous bike. Any time I tried to tune it, it just got worse and worse. So I take it in here and they smooth it out but then it goes out of tune again after a couple hundred miles. Now I know why, the frigging axle was broken! Took it to Inky's and they found the broken axle (although they have their own repair issues).

Shop Summary:
If you're looking for the best prices in town, go here. If you're looking for someone to tune up your bike, it will come out worse than when it went in! I bought a brand new bike here and they said it was normal for the front derailuer to take up to 10 seconds to switch gear. Outrageous! I took it to kearny mesa and they fixed it in 3 minutes. They were embarrassed by what the techs in la mesa were doing to my bike. I think they discredited my knowledge of bikes because I bought an entry level bike. Not the case at all, it was my bike I bought to ride to school because my 4 digit bikes were sticking out like a sore thumb on the bike racks. Take it to trek or inkys bike even if you have to pay for adjustments. The mechanics had my bike adjusted so poorly my drivetrain became damaged.

Shop Summary:
First off I've been riding for 20 years and have good mech. back round, but I'm not a bike mech. When some mechnical problem is beyond me I take it to the so called experts. This has to be the worst bike shop in San Diego!!!!! I'm talk'n La Mesa store. There close to my house so it's convenient but not worth it. I only come in for service (free tune ups or brake downs) every 6 to 12 months and every time they can't tune a rear derailleur if their life depend on it and something else is always worst than when I left it . Forget it if it's something major. They seem to have a high turn over rate with employees so you can't build any kind of relationship. Don't ask a tech. question, they don't know or make something up. Watch your head in the store, the I.Q. level is pretty low, though their pretty good with the scanner. The Kearny Mesa store has always done a good job but I have to take my bike on the way home from work , sometimes you have to travel to get better service. I keep thinking La Mesa will get better over time , but they seem to attract unskilled labor. They had a good mech. years ago I think his name was Dre, he moved on.
I have many more horror story I could tell but this is a family show, so in closing, I say RUN DON'T WALK from Perf. La Mesa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you know what part you want and the model number, thats your best situation with these guys. Parts not service.

Used to be a good bike shop, years ago, when it was La Mesa Cyclery. It was that place you could hang out, learn a lot and buy cool stuff. Plus the mechanics knew what they were doing. Then along came a guy who had no business buying the shop and continued to dominate the cycling industry in SD, eventually taking over Cycling Tunes and Hal's as well. He sold out to Performance and moved on, off course, taking his money with him. Unfortunately, this is his legacy.
