Redstone Cyclery

Average Rating:    (4.78 of 5)

No. of Reviews: 18

Redstone Cyclery was founded late in 2003 in the beautiful, cozy little town of Lyons, Colorado. Lyons and the northern Rockies foothills have a great local scene of both hardcore and recreational cyclists. Locally owned and operated, Redstone Cyclery was born of a true passion for cycling and a love for the local community. Combining those two passions, advocacy is a major focus of what we do. As cyclists, we are constantly struggling to maintain our rights and to broaden our access. A lot of shops talk about advocacy, but lip service doesn't get us more places to ride. We are an IMBA dealer member and are very politically active in the Northern Foothills area. I am also personally on the Lyons Pathways Commission to work to make Lyons a more bike friendly town. Check out our Advocacy Page to see the latest of what's going on.

Although the crew here loves mountain bike cross country and trail riding, we spend a lot of our time on the road as well. Redstone is a bike riders bike shop. If it has two wheels and pedals, we're pretty happy about riding it.. Our customers appreciate the fact that we ride what we sell. Years of bike shop experience, bicycle industry experience, and bike racing at the highest levels has taught us what works and what doesn't. We're here to help you find what works for you. We also know the surrounding area better than anyone - roads and trails. Any picture you find on this website has been snapped in the general Lyons area by Redstone. If you're looking for a quick spin around town, a nice rolling road ride, or an epic mission in the mountains on the road or on dirt, you've come to the right place.

Shop Summary:
Small shop - BIG customer service!

Lots of high end toys to look at.

Customer Service:
Redstone was right in the middle of the flooding that went on in September 2013 in Lyons, CO.

Just previous to the flood, I had ordered a new set of wheels to be built by Dave, the owner. The delivery was postponed because he had no access to his shop for some time. However, when he was allowed back in, he grabbed my wheelset and actually thanked me for picking them up from where he and his family were staying.

I had zero expectation of being able to pickup my wheels during what is a huge natural disaster for Lyons CO. For him to deliver any parts/service during this time is customer service 11 out of 10 in my book...let alone thank me for it.

Other Comments:
Great shop, top notch ethic. Goes above and beyond in my book.

Shop Summary:
Not more I can say that hasn't already been said. Redstone is a small locally owned shop. They've got most of what you would need in a pinch if riding the local trails Heil, Hall, etc... Surpising amount of high end bikes/parts lying about the shop. Everything from a kids stryder to the "I think I'm going to have to have one" REEB steel gates drive single speed 29er. Website is great and Dave gets out and rides according to the blog

Customer Service:
Excellent. As a small buisness owner myself, I can appreciate it when someone nails customer service. I contacted the shop a couple months back in regards to rebuilding my I9 eduro 29er wheelset after a chain suck episode. Dave was VERY honest with me in regards to what would be involved labor wise. I procrastinated in getting the wheels rebuilt and continued to ride my 60-75 MTB miles and approx. 4-6K of climbing per week until my previously damaged aluminum spokes let go during a monday night ride. One call to the shop ( and one call to I9 to overnight some new spokes) and Dave had me up and running 24hrs later in enough time to make it to my race. Not only was the turn around time amazing (most shops were quoting 2 weeks to true a wheelset) , the labor charges were what I expected.

Other Comments:
I'm a DIY'er, so I build/tune all my own bikes. But there are certain things I haven't mastered ( like wheel building) and certain things I don't have the tools for ( like pressing in headsets). After working with several Boulder area shops over the years, I'll be making the drive up to Lyons from Erie from now on for all my bike related needs.

Shop Summary:
In January 2011 the shop relocated to 355 Main St Lyons just down the street from the old location. The new shop is much larger and better able to accommodate the needs of area cyclist. Great vibe when you walk thru the door.

Customer Service:
Customer Service is second to none. If you go in you will be pleasantly surprised by the good vibe. If you come in looking for advice or expert local trail recommendations that’s not a problem, there’s no high pressure sales’ going on here. When you buy something or get work done by the 5 star wrench and owner Dave Chase you’ll become a satisfied customer for life. Dave has the passion and is living the bike store dream.

Other Comments:
The shop is always giving back. A couple of examples are; the store’s Tuesday night riders who on occasion don’t ride but instead pitch in to help with area trail work; and Dave who after normal business hours, stay’s late and gives a FREE maintenance class to the Boulder Mountain Bike Alliance bike patrol. His commitment and dedication is awesome.

Shop Summary:
The shop is small, but big enough to do what has to be done in a MTB shop. Dave has a passion for Mountain bike riding that he shares easily. He will do anything he can to help you enjoy the sport. I have seen him take parts off of his personal bike to help someone get on the trail that day. If he orders parts on Tues. or Wed. you will have them by Fri. of the same week. He has the best trail knowledge of any person I have ever met. He is like a living trail map. If you like or love Mountain biking you owe it to yourself to visit his shop. You won't be disappointed.

Customer Service:
His customer service is his best quality. I needed to get a new fork in June of 2010. I went to the shop on Tuesday to order it and he got it in Friday. He set up my fork for me at no extra charge. (Cut the steerer tube, set the travel, put the headset races on). I was able to ride the next 2 days, and to be honest I didn't think I would be able to ride that weekend at all.

Other Comments:
I have been riding bicycles for almost 35 years. Dave is like a trip back in time in the way he loves the bicycle and riding it. It makes me happy to be able to buy something from him and give my money to him. I have since moved to New Jersey and hope to buy a Turner from him in the near future. I enjoy supporting his shop. Every town should have a shop owner with as much passion for the sport as Dave. We would all be better off for it!

Shop Summary:
Small shop, but plenty of room for the important stuff. Great vibe when you walk thru the door. Not a huge selection but what is on the shelves is top notch product at a great price. No need to stock 4 types of shock pumps, when you just need a good one.

Customer Service:
Customer Service is second to none. We just drove up to the store cause we were close and I'd heard great things. I ended up talking to Dave for a hour or so about riding in Nebraska and such. I would go out of my way to buy a bike from Dave. We discussed a bunch of options on bikes. He offered to let me ride his own personal Turner.

Other Comments:
Great place will return soon.
