Weekend Warrior Shop Summary: Not the hugest selection, but definitely adequate to take care of our needs during a trip. Customer Service: Absolutely phenomenal. A guy named Ron was ridiculously helpful. He spent about 30 minutes detailing several rides for us. Then, one of the guys on our trip backed into something, damaging my bike rack. We got a hold of Ron, who ordered the individual parts from Thule. When they were going to come in a day late, he gave us the parts off his personal rack and insisted on installing them himself for free. He put the new parts on his rack a day or two later when they came in. Other Comments: Ron wasn't the only cool guy at the shop, several of the other guys were chiming in when we were asking about trails to hit. I went to Durango expecting the prick attitude I got when I had a phone conversation with some guy from Hermosa Tours; was totally surprised by the reception and help at this shop. I'll go back.

Cross Country Rider Shop Summary: Big shop with a large selection of bikes & parts, but disorganized. They saw me coming as as a tourist as I went to get 32 spoke nipples to re-do my wheel. Tried to charge $1/spoke nipple. I backed out of the sale and he immediately dropped the price to 50 cents/nipple. Should be around 25 cents each. I had purchased a few in Cortez 3 days prior at 25 cents each. Customer Service: Very good trail information and that was the only reason I went ahead and purchased the spoke nipples at their inflated prices. Other Comments: Laid back riders work there - that's both a plus and a minus.

Downhiller Shop Summary: A nice little shop with lots of complete bikes.. parts are a little lacking but they'll order stuff quickly for you. Customer Service: The reason why this is always the first place I go. These guys have helped me out with everything from trail beta to technical advice. They gave me a free bike box to ship a frame and have even done a free after-hours repair to help me out once. Nice and laid back with no uptight employees...

Weekend Warrior Shop Summary: Crowded shop with too much going on. Customer Service: Unfriendly and disrespectful staff, "know it all's" for lack of better terminology. Other Comments: This is the last place I will go for mountain bike products in Durango.
