Bike Shop Owners! We have a new feature we call the Rating Badge. The Rating Badge is a small graphic image (150x58 pixels)
that displays your shop's rating and number of reviews on Mtbr.com. You can put it on your website and it allows all your
customers to review your shop. It also gives new customers the reviews and validation they need to buy from you. Just cut and paste the HTML
code found in the Rating Badge section of your review page. More details about the Rating Badge here»

Located on the South side of Indianapolis, the Bicycle Garage Indy is a sprawling mecca of bikes and bike supplies. The store itself is very well lit and displays the largest variety of bicycles that I have seen in the state. BGI carries Haro, Redline, Giant, Trek, Cannondale, Look, Serotta. |

Weekend Warrior Shop Summary: Better than the rest. No shop can carry everything, but BGI seems to at least carry enough to give you an idea of what it is they'll order for you. I'm really only interested in driving one place when I need something. If I went to Grey Goat, I would have to find it myself, and if it broke, I'm screwed. Matthew's tries to hard to push their own stuff, even if you tell them exactly what you want. BGI also orders at no charge. NO OTHER SHOP IN INDY DOES THIS! ICS is a great shop but they are too far away. Customer Service: Pretty good. It's a busy place and I am very rarely the only one there, so sometimes you've gotta wait a minute. The help is good when they get going, though. The service techs took care of a frame that Grey Goat sold me, and set me up with a much better bike. They also knew the exact part that I needed for a very old bike I didn't even bring with me. I just described the problem and they got me the part. Other Comments: I started coming to BGI because I needed to repair a frame that Grey Goat sold me and wanted to charge me for. Oh by the way, it was under warranty. That's a bunch of bullsh!t. That place can't go out of buisness fast enough!

Weekend Warrior Shop Summary: They seem to be the Best Buy of Bike Shops. They're big. They'll talk to you if you are buying something. Despite their size. They seem to have a fairly narrow selection. They do have sales and email coupons here and there and thats the only time I consider buying from them. Customer Service: Has been hit or miss, but more miss. The one hit. They exchanged a piece of defective clothing on the spot. The misses. I had an issue with the seatpost on my mountain bike which should have been covered under warranty but they wouldn't look at it. I eventually had to go to Gray Goat and they fixed it on the spot. I also had one of the guys tell me he had other stuff to do so he couldn't talk anymore.

Racer Shop Summary: Everything bicycles!!! BGI has more bikes than any shop I have ever been in. I have been to every shop in central Indiana and I can safely say that BGI is the only real bike shop here. Most of the other stores in the area have a handful of lower-end bicycles and one or two jerseys, ie. Grey Goat Sports. BGI has a wide variety of bicycles and a generous accessories section. Customer Service: This is where BGI truly shines. The sales staff has been incredibly helpful and knowledgable. They are very quick to offer advice and often ask when they don't an answer. When I go to Matthew's, they talk over my head, and I would be lucky to get any help at Grey Goat at all. The service staff has also been wonderful. I have only ever had one issue with a set of Mavic wheels, and the guys there did everything I needed to make them work! Perhaps my favorite part is just stopping by to talk bike parts. No one seems to mind chatting, even if a sale isn't involved. Other Comments: I would like to qualify my comments by saying that I have looked at a number of different bike shops across the country and in different parts of the world, and I like my LBS the best. I read a few other reviews for shops in the area, and I'm not sure these guys could possibly be cycling ethusiasts. If so, BGI is the ONLY choice. I have purchesed, in chronological order, a Giant TCR Composite 2, a Trek 1000, a Trek 7200, a Cannondale Rush 1000, a Look 585 Dura-Ace equipped, and a Serotta Concours CX. I would not make this kind of investment in any other shop in this state. You really have to work to earn buisness like this, and I will make every future purchase from the best bike shop in Indiana, BGI!
