Bike Shop Owners! We have a new feature we call the Rating Badge. The Rating Badge is a small graphic image (150x58 pixels)
that displays your shop's rating and number of reviews on Mtbr.com. You can put it on your website and it allows all your
customers to review your shop. It also gives new customers the reviews and validation they need to buy from you. Just cut and paste the HTML
code found in the Rating Badge section of your review page. More details about the Rating Badge here»
Hodson's Bay Company
Hodson's Bay Company has been in Lafayette since the early 1970s, and the original owner still works in the shop full time. Its 12,000 square feet house has a repair shop, a sales floor, lofts for extra bikes, a climbing wall open to the public, and a turtle tank for atmosphere.
The store sells TREK, GIANT, SPECIALIZED, REDLINE, HARO, and GT.
Shop employees range from Lynn the original owner to Charlie the retired engineer who still put > 1000 miles on his StumpJumper last year, to Purdue collegiate racers who keep the old-timers up with the new trends.
Sales staff is mostly Purdue students in health and fitness or engineering majors. There is a full-time office / sales guy, and a manager who has been there since 1990 so orders never wait to get placed.
Originally a backpacking store, Hodson's Bay still has plenty of equipment for camping and backpacking, and over the years has gotten involved with high-end outerwear such as ARC'TERYX, MOUNTAIN HARDWEAR, SIERRA DESIGNS, CLOUDVEIL, and MARMOT.
Other things stocked at Hodson's Bay are fitness machines such as OCTANE ellipticals, TRUE treadmills, and IGNITE fitness equipment. Hodson's carries all free-weight training equipment including odd benches and a full run of dumbells.
Hodson's Bay actively sponsors the Wabash River Cycling Club, and the Purdue Cycling Club.
Shop Summary: for new riders (xc, fixie, road) moving to the lafayette area (as i was last year), hodson's is the only shop in town. the mechanics are extremely knowledgable & special parts orders are fast.
...plus they ride.
