Cross Country Rider Shop Summary: This shop is a great bike for all levels of riders. If there is a downfall, it is that the shop isn't big enough to offer lots of selections in all categories. Basically, three brands of bikes, two or three brands of clothing; oh, just two or three brands of everything. If you read about some great new thing in a magazine, you may not find it here, but every single basic is covered with good quality equipment. And, they gladly special order. The mechanics are top notch and will work dilligently to fit in emergency repairs. And, did I mention the oodles and oodles of good, solid, free advice? Customer Service: Customer service is what this store does best. The staff is experienced and knowledgeable. The best thing? They listen. And then, they work to help the customer achieve the customer's goal. No trying to foist higher-priced gismos off when less expensive options are what customers want or need. Actually, I have had them talk me out of an expensive item in favor of the less expensive option that actually worked better for my purpose. There is also no rush. Try a bike. Come back next week. Try again. I'm sure there are limits, but I've not found them. Other Comments: The store offers regular discounts to bike club members. Also, they will order anything and get it reasonably quickly. When considering the discount and the value of the personal service, prices are frequently competative with those in popular catalogues or higher priced stores. When shopping for a bike, if last year's model will work, ask. Discounts on unsold bikes from prior years can be very generous.
