The Bicycle Escape

This shop has a great overall selection of bikes and equipment. They seem to carry a pretty equal mix of Mountain and Road bikes with some BMX stuff as well as the standard kid and family bikes. They do tend to have some higher end components than many of the other area shops. For example they''re the only local shop I''ve seen with a set of zero gravity brakes in stock..

It''s also worth noting they''re also the local IF dealer.

The shop is run by the husband and wife team of Tom And Danielle. Tom has been a local wrench for years and has just recently made the leap to opening his own shop.

Here''s their mission statement from their website. I think it sums it up perfectly.

"The Bicycle Escape exists to offer any cyclist - male or female, pro-racer or young child -
an honest, professional and organized resource for bicycle sales and service. "

Shop Summary:
Great shop in general, they are all very down to Earth people. When i went and bought my Orbea road bike they didn't talk down to me like im some noob, like some stores i went too. They treated me with respect and he actually remembered my name. You really know when you matter to a store when they say "Hey Joe what do you need?"

Customer Service:
Great people, fast and dependable service. Got my flightdeck installed in two days when the store my dad goes to said 1 week. They also did it for ten dollars cheaper. They even showed up early, to the store, to set up my cleats in time for the weekend with my new bike.

Other Comments:
When i come back from college these are the guys im going to let service my bike!

Shop Summary:
I've been coming to TBE ever since it opened even though it's not the closest to my home by any stretch. I was so impressed by the shop and how it's operated the first time I visited that I ended up buying my last two bikes from there. Tom and Danielle's no B.S. approach to answering questions is quite refreshing compared to some other shops that will tell you whatever you want to hear in order to make the sell.

Customer Service:
As mentioned before, I couldn't ask for better customer service. Regardless of how busy the shop is I can always count on my needs being met. Their level of honesty and support is unsurpassed so you can be sure they will tell you an honest answer when you have a question and their knowledge of everything related to bikes is exceptional.

Other Comments:
As Crashmore mentioned, they are the local Independent Fabricator dealer so that's a big plus as well!

Shop Summary:
Everything a local shop should be. Not only are they well stocked with all the basics but they also sport some great high end brands and gear such as Independent Fab. As well as the basic shop sales and services they also do top notch bike fittings by appointment. (Having recently gone through the process I can vouch for just what an exceptional job they do with their fits..)

Customer Service:
Last Christmas my wife and I had just moved to the area as the shop was opening up. My wife (A non cyclist) went in looking for Christmas gift ideas for me and she was treated like gold. She had nothing but great things to say about her experience and I certainly appreciated the gifts! As a result of her super positive expierence I started making a point to support them whenever I could.

Up until recently I had not made any large purchases at the shop. I actually ride for another shops mtb team and am very good friends with the owners there. Since that shop is an hour away I've been using The Bicycle Escape for parts and service when I don't have time to make the trip. Despite the fact that I make most of my larger purchases elsewhere I've always been given killer service and have become one of the shop regulars so to speak.

The service has been so good in fact that I decided to forgo my normal shop discount at the other shop and buy a custom IF frame at full pop, primarily so I can help support this local shop. (Since my other shop isn't an IF dealer I don't feel like I'm cheating on them :) )

Other Comments:
Frederick has seen a ton of new bike shops pop up in the past year. Of all the shops in the area this is my hands down favorite. If you're looking for a local shop to frequent in Frederick make sure you stop in and see Tom and Danielle.
