Landry's

Shop has a good selection of mtb and road gear. As far as service goes though, I would not recommend it. I do most work on my bike myself, but have come in here when I need some help or are strapped for time. I understand that shops need to make $ but their rates are outrageous when the do something that takes 5-10 minutes. Whereas other shops would charge $5- $10, Landry's charges $20+. When a shop helps me out, I always make sure I support them by at least buying some GU, breakpads, etc. But with the rates these guys charge, I can't do it. Plenty of other good options out there.

Shop Summary:
This is for the Boston shop. They seem really nice, but they seem unable to perform basic maitenance. Had difficulty taking a single-speed freewheel off an old hub, before telling me that it was impossible and that I had to purchase a new wheel. Ran to one of their competitors and they had it off in less than five minutes. Bikes look nice and all but all their products are pricey and their selection of bikes is limited to two or three major brands. It became pretty clear after my first couple of trips that I knew much more about bikes than even their "experienced" mechanic.

Customer Service:
Nice guys, no pressure, let me pick up stuff and look at it without hassling me.

Shop Summary:
This is for the Wesboro shop.
Good shop with lots of decent selection and some OK parts, but not much high end selection on site. Have to order a pretty much any thing you want/need

Customer Service:
.
I used to go here every week about 5 years ago because the service and the people were great. I could just shoot the breeze with the mechanics and the manager while I was looking around. Charged me internet prices for parts and usually got a break on install cost as well.
Now, they look up every little thing in a book for price, install, everything.

Very closed off personel. If you in to just look around, they do make you feel unwanter. It is almost if you don't ride with them, your not worth their time. Too bad, used to be a great shop to bring my bike to and just window shop. Oh well.

Other Comments:
Wouldn't even answer siple questions w/o me bringing in my bike. their knowledge seems to be limited to what they have not what the industry supplies.

Shop Summary:
This review is for the Natick store. The store is big enough with a good selection of bikes. They have the basics of bags, tools, clothes, etc. The could have some more clothing. They probably don't want to be stuck with unsold clothes at season-end.

Customer Service:
Unfortunately, I know more about bikes than the clerks at Landry's. That's not good because I don't know that much. If you need cookie-cutter items and current technology, they can help you. Otherwise, you'd be better off somewhere else. They couldn't tell me the fitting differences between brands, etc. I'm willing to drop $250 on shoes if I know they are the right ones for me. The clerks also seemed to be in a hurry, even when the store was not busy.
Based on my experience with the salespeople, I have never had my bike repaired at this shop. Maybe the repair shop is good. I don't know.

Other Comments:
The store is 2 miles from my house. I drive 25 miles to Wheelworks to get the service I need. If Landry's could train their salespeople a bit, it might be worth stopping by.

Shop Summary:
I used to go to the Danvers store and I visited the Boston Store.

I disliked both. I have never been into the Norwood store, but seeing as there is no section for the Boston/other stores, I'll review here.

1) The Danvers store did many baaad things to me.(http://forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=177524) They charged 4x as much as competing shops. (Some shops do stuff for free that Landry's charges a fortune for)Never listened to me and robbed me. Did stuff to my bike I did not ask for and charged me for it.....
2) They have very nice emplyees, but lack that LBS charm.
3) Carry the boring brands. Nothing exotic except for a few of the carbon road bikes. Just a hellava lot of Specialized. A few C'dales and even less Trek. And, they'll have 10 Spec. Enduros...but zero Epics. 5 Cannondale Rushes but no Prophets, Scalpels....

Customer Service:
If you spend big bucks...you make them happy. If you just look around, they kind of give you an akward feeling.

As I said earlier, when you first walk in (new costomer), the emplyees are all happy and kind. After awhile, that goes away. Landry's does not feel like the LBS's you hear about on mtbr. They are all buisness. Some times they can be helpful, other times
that is not the case.
Just my opinion.

Other Comments:
- I went on a Landry's group ride a few times. A new guy who was riding his Wally World bike showed up. A little over weight in lycra. It was at Gordon.

Immediatley, the ride leader began snickering and insulting him behind his back. The emplyee obveously broke his spirit. He was new to mtbing and it sucks that a shop emplyee did that.

-Overall, I don't really like the chain.
