Cross Country Rider Shop Summary: This is my favorite shop in Columbia. They have a little bit of everything and the rare times they've had to order something for me, it was there is only a couple of days. They have stuff for entry level riders as well as lots of cool high end stuff. A friend of mine had a personal fitting done there and keeps freaking out about how good his bike feels...just a good local shop. Customer Service: Everyone I've talked with there seems to know what they are talking about. I asked one guy a question he couldn't answer and he asked one of the service guys that gave me more information than I could have ever needed. They are also very down to earth. Some other shops I've been to have been staffed by a lot of really young race type guys that just want to sell you a race bike. The cyclextreme folks are people you'd want to have a beer with. Other Comments: I second the Grill One Five endorsment!

Weekend Warrior Shop Summary: Good store, I know the owners family. They have a pretty good selection of accessories. Not many pedals though. It seems their stuff is a little high end, but thats necassary sometimes to get quality products that you can hold and touch before buying. Customer Service: I have been greeted every time I have been in, and they seemed knowledgable(even though I wasnt) and willing to help. The repair guy helped me once he knew a crap load. Good about returns. Other Comments: Grill 1 Five next door, go in for a drink.

Cross Country Rider Shop Summary: Conveniently located downtown, close to MU campus, so if you need a new tube or some accesories, they're easy to get to even on foot. Customer Service: Probably the poorest customer service in town. They seem to almost always be "just out" of whatever part I need. Getting attention from staff can sometimes be difficult, and then they don't always seem to know how to answer your question. It sort of feels like going to Circuit City and asking the car stereo guy about quasi-parametric equalizers and getting a blank stare in return. If you sell it, you need to know what it is you're selling.
I once went in looking for better knobby tires due to thick, wet leaves covering the local trails. When the sales guy didn't have something in stock that might work (always out of the stuff I need), he suggested--in all seriousness--that I get a rake and go clean the leaves off the trail. All 25 miles of it, apparently. I ended up buying new tires online. Other Comments: They're the only authorized Specialized dealer in town, so if that's the brand you like, you're stuck paying them full MSRP for all Specialized parts.
They have a lof of non-standard bikes, such as recumbents.
Few of the employees have mastered the cash register, so plan on a frustrating wait near the end of your visit.
Compared to other local shops, they have the largest supply of parts and accessories. Still, they're usually the last place I visit when looking for something.
You can sometimes find great stuff on their 50%-off table.
