Bike Shop Owners! We have a new feature we call the Rating Badge. The Rating Badge is a small graphic image (150x58 pixels)
that displays your shop's rating and number of reviews on Mtbr.com. You can put it on your website and it allows all your
customers to review your shop. It also gives new customers the reviews and validation they need to buy from you. Just cut and paste the HTML
code found in the Rating Badge section of your review page. More details about the Rating Badge here»
McGhie''s Ski, Bike, and Board
From the McGhie''s website:
"McGhies has been owned and operated by Randy and Maria McGhie since 1971. From our humble beginning as a small backcountry outfitter known then as Mountain Man. To our success at becoming the premier bike shop in Las Vegas, McGhies continues to offer the greatest selection, service and customer satisfaction that has become synonymous with the McGhies name.
Our staff includes ex-Pro road and mountain bike riders.
Our store manager has 15 years experience in custom fitting road, MTB, and Tri customers. He is a Serotta bike fit graduate, and is also a USCF certified race mechanic. We have a Spanish speaking staff member and Our Asst. Manager speaks fluent Spanish and French.
Every employee at our store participates and enjoys cycling. So when you come into our store you will be talking to someone who has a passion for the sport. And will talk to you in plain terms. No "Mr Science" lectures here.
We are a Top 100 dealer for TREK.
We are a Top 50 dealer for Cannondale."
McGhie''s is a full service repair shop, and also offers mountain and road rentals, and guided tours. For now, it is the closest shop to the Strip, until they move locations at the end of 2006. The new location will be 4055 South Fort Apache, Las Vegas, NV, 89147, near Flamingo and I-215.
Shop Summary: Good selection of road and mtn bikes, clothing, and accessories. Nice shop environment, knowledgable staff, good location.
Customer Service: I went in to this shop to look for a new tire and check the place out. I started looking at their large selection of Mtn. bikes. I was immediately approached by a very helpful and knowledgable sales guy who provided stellar customer service. This individual answered a variety of my questions, went above and beyond to show me both bikes and accessories, and made sure I found all that I was looking for. Although I've only been in the store one time, I will definately go back. I did'nt get any of the "elitist" attitude that is prevelant at some high end shops, just genuine, helpful, advice. Bottom line, my experience here is about as good as I have ever had in a bicycle store ever.

Shop Summary: This is for the Bike Outpost in Blue Diamond. You would be better served going somewhere else unless you like getting treated rudely by a shop keeper with anger issues.
Customer Service: It doesn't exist here, the shop keeper is perpetually pissed and a little reading around the net will show you that it is common for this guy to be rude to customers who go in to spend money. I won't be back and none of my friends will either.

Shop Summary: I only utilize the Bike Outpost in Blue Diamond. It serves as a rental outlet and has a fair amount of accessories. This shop is awesome for repairs.
Customer Service: There is only one guy working there so there can be service problems because of a high volume of customers at any given time, but it's unavoidable because the location couldn't support more employees because business can be sporatic.
Other Comments: I began using this shop when I first moved to town (for mountain biking, and the robust economy) because I thought it was so cool to have a shop that is a trail head, and because of the convenience if you need any tubes, Gatorade, etc. But this shop has turned into much more than that. I have come to learn that the guy who works there, Mike Bishop, is incredibly passionate about cycling and knows how to work on a bike better than any technician I have encountered. My countless conversions with him have opened my eyes to aspects of the sport that I would have never learned about on my own.
I don’t know about anyone else, but I have never experienced killer customer service from any shop. I think that you have to give any shop employee some leeway because they work there because they love what they do even though there is very little money involved. They are not trying to climb any corporate ladder, they just love bikes. Sometimes you might need to give Mike a little patience, but you might be amazed what he can do when you are stuck in a mechanical quagmire.

Customer Service: Bad, snooty, unhelpful. They treat you like a ski shop. I guess that appeals to some people.
Other Comments: I go to this shop for one reason -- selection. Of course, with the availability of parts on the internet, that makes them pretty obselete to me. They do, however, have a great selection of bikes, something only the biggest shops can really do. They've also got a smaller shop out at Blue Diamond, but the guy who works there really acts like he's doing you a favor just ringing up a purchase. This is the Vegas snydrome. Service people get used to treating tourists like crap and it carries over to us poor locals. There are much nicer shops in town.
