Cross Country Rider Shop Summary: I've never set foot in there shop, and have done all my business with them over the phone and through e-mails. They keep somewhat odd hours, but typically respond very quickly. Customer Service: This is what sets Tryon Bike apart from every other shop I've dealt with, and what keeps me coming back to them again and again.
When I was looking for new-take-offs and used parts, they came through for me. Left brake handle, right shifter, no problem!
When I was looking for new parts, they had unbeatable prices. My LBS swore they couldn't buy those parts at those prices.
When I was looking for obscure parts, they knew exactly what they were and had some laying around. Fox shock spacers for a Jekyll swingarm? Cane Creek Double XC Short headset? Got 'em!
When I was in a hurry to finish my build before a Festival, they went to the shop during off-hours to pack up my order and get it shipped ASAP. Other Comments: Even though they are not an internet warehouse like Jenson and BlueSky, do not hesitate to buy from them over the 'net. They usually have better prices; if they don't, they'll tell you so. They accept Pay-Pal, and can take card #s over the phone. (Since Pay-Pal charges 6% to use a CC, I'd recommend having them take the # over the phone if charging your order.)

Cross Country Rider Shop Summary: This is not your usual bike shop. From the second you walk in it is all about personal service and empowering the customer. They don't have a large inventory of bikes to browse but they do have a wide selection of high quality MTB parts in house. If you know what you are interested in buying, more often then not, they can get you a great deal for parts or complete high quality mountain bikes. Another major difference with this shop is that for a very low yearly fee they offer a Wrench Club membership in which members may do mechanical work on their own bikes with expert teaching and supervision using the shop's tools. If you just want the bike fixed by a professional they offer that too. Group MTB rides leave from the shop almost daily and the shop employees are very knowledgeable about the local trails. This place is definitely worth checking out.
