Bike Shop Owners! We have a new feature we call the Rating Badge. The Rating Badge is a small graphic image (150x58 pixels) that displays your shop's rating and number of reviews on Mtbr.com. You can put it on your website and it allows all your customers to review your shop. It also gives new customers the reviews and validation they need to buy from you. Just cut and paste the HTML code found in the Rating Badge section of your review page. More details about the Rating Badge here»
BioWheels

In 1993, our first store opened to serve the cycling needs of Southern Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana. It was here that we first implemented our innovative "Interactive Service".

In 1994, we assembled BioWheels Racing. 12 years later, our roster includes over 70 athletes in OH, KY, IN, NC and CO.

In 1996, we simultaneously launched www.biowheels.com and branched south into the Appalachian Mountains by opening BioWheels Touring, based in Asheville, NC.

In 2000, we opened our Asheville Outfitter with complete Sales, Repairs, Rentals and Tours.

2007 promises to be a great year for BioWheels customers . Co-Owners Matt Johnson, Eric Krause & Mitch Graham continue to comb through the industry to find the best values for you in every product category.

Shop Summary:
Overall friendly shop with nice drool factor and entry level bikes. Generally high expertise buuut...

Customer Service:
Employees come and go and there will always be bad apples who give a shop a bad name but when an owner gives bad service, that's a different story.

I am an easy going customer and consider myself easily pleased but after I dropped $4,500 on a bike the last bit of good service I got was the hand shake as I left the store.
Aside from a couple of mistakes made in assembling the bike I also had a warranty issue and to be fair I got the part replaced - albeit with a 2nd hand part. While putting the 'new' part on my bike the owner made a string of condescending comments alluding to me not taking care of the bike and failing to work out something was loose. When it was clear it was a warranty issue I got no apology. Worse still was his arrogant attitude when he found one of the chain rings on back to front, and made me pay for another one. I have held my tongue until now but last night when replacing all the rings I found absolute proof that the original came from that shop back to front.

Wake up guys, you could be the best.
"The customer is always right" Well maybe not but "The owner is always right" is a mission statement you guys (guy) should review.

Other Comments:
Patronize if: you don't know what you want or what is wrong with your bike - these guys have the knowledge and skills to get you on the trail

Steer clear if: you know what you want or know what's wrong - they already know it all and aren't listening.

Shop Summary:
Still the only 'green' commercial building in Asheville. The best overall shop in Asheville. The most lines of any shop & great turnaround on service!

Customer Service:
Excellent! Somebody will greet you and help every time you walk in the door! Not intended to be a self-serve environment. Talk to the employees, ask questions, learn the products, and make an educated purchase.

Two Serotta qualified fit professionals on staff and a dedicated fit studio.

Without a doubt the best wheelbuilder in the area on staff!

Other Comments:
Show me a shop where the owners are liked by everyone and I'll show you a shop where you don't meet the owner. Matt & Eric put themselves out there! They support racing, commuting, and recreational riding more than any shop in western North Carolina. The shop is staffed by adults with families and kids, not teens working a summer job. BioWheels is not about flying under the radar and just thinking about profits. A true community bike shop. BioWheels is constantly evolving and is the future of the "bike shop".

Support your local economy!

Shop Summary:
Green built businesses deserve support, they've made the investment in the world's future, consumers have to acnknowledge this investment by frequenting the business. That aside, I think this is the best shop in the area for selection, service, and atmosphere. I am an extremely picky person and it took me a year or more to realize how much better this shop could be. Take your time to talk to the people working there and you'll be suprised by their depth of knowledge.

Customer Service:
I feel's it necesarry for me to say that yes, I now race for this shop and am friends with the people who work there and own the shop. That said, I can make direct comments about the negative review further down. I know the reviewer and was there when he got the unsatisfactory CS. I agree, mtnfir could've been treated with more respect. His concerns were reviewed by me and another person (GG, for those who know those initials) with the person involved. He truly wishes he'd acted differently that day. I'd invite mtnfir and anybody else who had a past negative experience to go to the new shopand give it a second chance- I think you'd be more than pleasantly suprised.

Other Comments:
This is a required field- I have nothing else to say.

Shop Summary:
New location in Downtown Asheville with the lowest greenhouse footprint in the business! (Did I mention a brewery is next door?)

Customer Service:
Career staff - everyone can answer questions with detail and expertise - and without too much "whatever" slacker attitude. I don't know how Ian stays so cheerful after freeing so many rust-seized Diamond Backs from the commuter clients. Kris is a patient father so he's good for family bike purchases. Grabowski is quiet, but an encyclopedia if you ask him for some technical advice. Erik is trained for the "fit" and has a good eye for the level and plumb bob.

Other Comments:
More skills with custom wheel builds than people realize.

Negatives are nothing significant: music can be loud sometimes (guess I'm getting old); odd road parts have to be ordered, etc.

Shop Summary:
I hate that someone had a bad expereice, but this shop is top notch in my opinion! These guys work hard to keep in stock a good selection of whatever your bike needs are. I've never had any trouble finding what I need. Plus this being an Eco Friendly shop makes me a lot more willing to spend my money there. They work hard to encourage a better way of living. I have bought 2 bikes there with great results both times. I will buy future bikes there as well.

Customer Service:
All the guys at the shop are great! They are very knowledgable with the wrench too. I've had to replace parts that were under warranty. They were more than willing to handle the transaction. These guys are very reasonable and try to make riding a pleasure! I wouldn't ride as much if I didn't have such a sweet ride! Thanks guys!
