Bikeways

Bikeways has a long history in Hendersonville, but it has a new face and personality. Ken Weitzen opened the shop in 1985. Weitzen saw the need for a local shop to serve the area’s growing population and the great number of camps in western North Carolina. Bikeways quickly grew as its reputation for value and quality work spread. Weitzen and Bikeways were great advocates of cycling in the area, and Weitzen was instrumental in the development of Henderson County’s cycling map. In 2003 Jeff Gates bought Bikeways. Gates moved from a successful 20-year career as an engineer with Cisco Systems and NCR Corporation. He brought great enthusiasm that has helped transform Bikeways into a retail environment that combines the old and new.
