Shop Summary:
Hey MTBR dudes, this shop has closed down. You can check their website to verify. (it doesn't work anymore). Owner sold it and it is reportedly going to become a "roadie" shop. Please do the same with Lucky Cycles. They've been gone for over a year and you still have them listed. Thanks!

Shop Summary:
Place appears interesting from its advertising, web presence and store appearance and I think it tries to come off as the cool place to go if you're a rebel. I found it on the internet after looking for shops that sell Niner bikes.

Customer Service:
After reading the other reviews I felt compelled to post because my experience was pretty similar. I walked in and greeted the balding and tattooed fellow behind the service desk and he immediately acted like it was an inconvenience to speak to me. I asked him if they had a Niner Air 9 frame or bike in stock that I could check out. He replied "No and I'm not expecting to be getting any in any time soon." And that was it. I stood there a few awkward seconds waiting to see if there was a "but" coming - you know, like "but, if you're interesting in a 29'er, I've got these other bikes you might want to check out" or "but, I'd be happy to see when the next shipment will be coming in and give you a call." At least something that even slightly hinted at the most basic level of interest and customer service. But nothing, nada, bupkis. I was so amazed but his complete disregard I could only say "OK" and left. I definitely wasn't going to waste more time and look around on my own after that brush off.

Other Comments:
To echo another review, what is amazing is that I was ready to drop some serious coin on this bike or something similar - and that fact either didn't cross this guy's mind or make a difference to him. Maybe the shop is independently wealthy or they don't give a damn about turning a profit. But which ever, it doesn't translate into a rewarding customer experience.
And I did find another shop that carries Niners (Middle Ring Cycles in Albemarle- these guys are the bomb!) and I did buy the Air 9.

Shop Summary:
A very cool shop with lots of 29"ers, fixed gears/single speeds, and other neat stuff. There was a couple of sweet dogs walking around that added to the "kick back and relax" feel of the shop.

Customer Service:
Great customer service. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful.

Other Comments:
As far as I'm concerned, this is the hippest joint around.

Shop Summary:
Lots to look at; bikes, dogs, tats, tvs, etc. Very casual is the atmosphere.

Customer Service:
Like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are going to get. Sometimes you are in and out in an hour. Sometimes you wait over a month for service without a call. As previously stated you must be prepared to take second fiddle to the phone or 'cooler' customers who may enter while waiting.

Other Comments:
Shop employees know a lot about bikes. For a while I was gunho about Black Sheep even buying a customized Surly Karate Monkey from them along with logo socks, water bottles, t-shirts, and the like. However after waiting FIVE WEEKS to get my bike fixed my mind is changed.

Shop Summary:
Cool looking bike shop, I dig the mechanic's tool area... would like to have a shop like this in my back yard for toolin around on my bike.

Customer Service:
Upon entering the shop I was greeted and I began telling the Black Sheep guy about the frame I was interested in purchasing. As we were discussing the new frame, the phone rang and he picked up the phone in the middle of our conversation (without a pardon me while I get this call). So I waited patiently, 3 minutes pasted and he got off the phone and we continued our conversation. Then phone rang again, he picked up the phone while I was still talking (without a pardon me) and spent 5 minutes on the phone. He got off the phone and we continued talking. The phone rang yet again and as before he took the call while I was talking to him (no excuse me while I get the phone). I waited about 4 more minutes. As I waited someone else walked into the shop and when he got off the phone he began discussing that guy's bike, while I stood there waiting. Before we could talk yet again the phone rang and I waited another 8 minutes. He got off the phone, looked at me and asked, "can I help you" (I thought you got to be kidding me). I reminded him that I was interested in a new Ventana frame. The phone rang again, he picked up the phone again and I walked out at that point.

Other Comments:
Their customer service needs serious attention. Black Sheep was recommended to me by a friend, I'll let him know the lousy service I got.
Black Sheep will never see a dime of my hard earned cash, nor get one more minute of my time other than this review.

What I find really interesting about this, is that I was there to buy a $1975.00 Ventana El Saltamontes frame and within the next month I'll be purchasing a $2075.00 Ventana El Ray 29er frame, new wheels and a fork. This guy's sorry service not only cost Black Sheep $4050.00 in two frame sells and $$$ in 29er wheels, fork and parts, but they also lost the loyal customer I would have been if given good service. Now maybe I just got there on a busy day, but the customer standing before you comes before the phone, the first guy in gets the service... not the guy who rolls in after you. There was also an employee standing behind another counter that he could have asked to help me, but that never happened. I'm completely unimpressed with Black Sheep!

I'll take my business elsewhere and get better service for it.

PS: I gave them 3 chillys for Technical Expertise, because there was not a neutral selection to choose from. They maybe technical experts or not... I don't know and can't accurately comment on their knowledge.
