Clarks Bicycles Shop

Average Rating:    (4.53 of 5)

No. of Reviews: 17

This shop is located in downtown Hickory, NC. They share a building with Clarks tire center and are underneath the auto shop, it can be hard to find.
The guys that work here are great! They are very helpful when it comes to selecting a bike. And if your in to freeride, downhill, or just some good mountain biking this is the shop to go to.

Shop Summary:
My wife and I have bought both of our bikes at Clark's Bicycle Center. It used to be a great place to deal with. In the past year or so it has really went down hill. About a month and a half ago I needed a new rear wheel. Talked to Mike and everyday he said he would find out the next day. Finally gave up on him and went to Blood Sweet and Gears in Denver NC and got the wheel and they installed it the same day I was there. I contacted Mike about buying a new Giant Talon bicycle but never herd back from him, Again I went to Blood Sweet and Gears in Denver to buy it. Today was the last straw. My wife and father had Mike order a new tire gauge, He said it would be there by Thursday, Of coarse it wasn't, That wasn't the real kicker. The real kicker was when he said it would be $26(The same price I could get it on Amazon for). Then today my father went to pick it up and was told it would be $32.95. Needless to say we said forget it. When my father asked him about it, Mike said he didn't have a tape recorder on when he said the price. It's not the money rather the principle of it. I will never buy any thing else from them ever again. Needless to say I will be giving all my business to Blood Sweat and Gears from now on.

Shop Summary:
These gentlemen keep a great selection of bikes to fit any cyclist expectations.

Customer Service:
This is what separates a bike shop from a great customer experience. Mike, and his former employee Jim took the time to assist me with incredible, accurate and most importantly honest information in answering my questions on my first bike purchase and the customer service following that purchase continues as I make countless mistakes popping wheels and doing all the wrong things a new biker does. I now feel that bicycling will be this old man's favorite sport, recreation exercise and leisure experience. This shop is great and you will not be disappointed if you allow them to serve you.

Shop Summary:
This is a fantastic shop, I drive from the Charlotte area, because I trust them, they are honest and they have extremely fair prices. It is plainly obvious that they are true enthusiasts of the Sport and genuinely want their customer to have a good time. I can't recommend this place enough.

Customer Service:
Fantastic, they don't act like they are above you like some of the shops around Charlotte do (one Giant dealer in Denver comes to mind). They treat everyone like they are an equal and don't care if you are there to buy a $20 part, or a $4000 MTB, you get treated with respect, and that is important to me. I really applaud them for this.

Other Comments:
Take the drive to Hickory if you want to get great service with reasonable pricing to go along with it. You won't be disappointed I promise.

Shop Summary:
This place a model for what local bicycle shops should be everywhere. They have a great combination of devotion, knowledge, experience, and common sense. Their leadership and role in sustaining cycling as a fun and healthy lifestyle into the community is rare!

Customer Service:
Always eager to help without pretense and hype. Treat others fairly, honestly, and always have something good to say and laugh about. Have useful suggestions based on your needs, desires and goals.

Other Comments:
Too often by nature, cyclist can be self-absorbed, narcissistic, conceited, vain, and self-important unreasonable individuals. If you have problems with this shop....you are probably one of them!

Shop Summary:
My wife and I have just begun to start riding again as a hobby with my grandchildren and younger daughter and her husband. The guys at Clarks have been such incredible help. I had 6 bicycles in my garage, none of which fit our needs. Through the intense trial and error and suggestions of the staff at Clarks we were able to find exactly the bicycles that fit both of us. As well as the accessories to meet the needs of the grandchildren. Three of the four adult riders now ride Giant bikes and love them. In my lifetime, I have bought nine bikes from Clark and they are the best of the best in my book.

Customer Service:
Excellent.
