Shop Summary:
This shop is consistently voted best bike shop in asheville. I have had work done at almost every shop in asheville, and although they do good work, they will CHEAT YOU. Almost everything in the shop is more expensive than other shops. $40 OVER MSRP on xt brakes sound reasonable to you? Sold me a bleed kit that didn't function, then gave me flack about returning it. Had a ridiculously expensive bike fit, that was WAY OFF and that didn't solve my numb hands - was told I needed to work out (had a fit elsewhere problem instantly solved). I have been totally ignored (twice!) while employees chit chatted with prosperous appearing customers.
DON'T BE FOOLED.

Shop Summary:
Very big shop and has alot of bikes and well laid out. Nice mechanic staff and some of the sales satff. A few sales staff pricks that think they are a Lance Armstrong I guess. But let's face it.....if they were they would not be selling bikes, they would be riding and making millions! Spent quite a few dollars there and when I needed a price match on a mtn bike from another Trek dealer 1.5 hours away they would not match the price. And it was a apples to apples bike on top of it. I will never set foot in Liberty again. Way over priced and even so, don't you think they would match a competitor??? Guess not.

Customer Service:
Great mechanics!

Other Comments:
Some sales staff are glorified in their own mind Tour winners!

Shop Summary:
very nice shop ... clean, well lit, good selection of bikes, parts, accessories. Plenty of staff to assist customers.

Customer Service:
my experience was not very good. I went in wanting to look at a full suspension Trek. I told the salesman I wanted to spend $2000-2500, but he kept showing me bikes in the $2500-3500 range, telling me I should 'spend a few dollars' more to get a 'good' bike. He never asked me about my riding style, where I would ride, what I wanted, etc. He was very condescending, arrogant, and elitist. He then proceeded to tell me how important he was in the local biking community and how he created many of hte trails at Bent Creek. This went on 20 minutes or so. He was very impressed with himself. He did very little to help me with my purchase in my price range. I left, went to another local shop and spent 2400 on a Cannondale. I will not go back to Liberty.

Other Comments:
Other folks in the local riding community seem to have good experiences at Liberty, but mine was awful. Liberty is the established
shop in the area, but did nothing to earn my business. I won't go back.

I agree with the poster. I bought a new road bike from them years ago and have used them to tune some of my personal build bikes from time to time. They have a nice mechanic staff but their prices are unreal! I found a Trek mtn bike in Hickory, NC for a lower price by about $100 which was current year model and Liberty would not match the price after all the money I spent there over the years. I don't even go in Liberty anymore.

Shop Summary:
Pretty big shop, nice enough folks. WAY overpriced!!!

Customer Service:
The staff seems friendly enough. I've just been in there to buy parts and look at the bikes on the floor. They carry a full line of MTB and road bikes, as well as service, parts, clothing, and accessories, but you'd have to be a fool to pay the prices that they want. Unless you think that $5+ tax for a derailleur cable and $6 for a standard 26" innertube is normal, find a different shop where your hard-earned money will go a little farther.

Other Comments:
After having visited several shops in the Asheville area, I've concluded that their prices for new bikes is somewhere between 15-25% higher than those of competing shops for similarly equipped bikes. But hey, it's your money; if you want to waste it, that's your business.

Funny how folks keep throwing money at them without doing their homework! I try to educate folks when I can to stay away from Liberty and go elsewhere. My team of folks I ride with feel the same I do. I do believe eventually it will catch up to Liberty and they will be forced to compete on prices or go out of business.
