Mock Orange Bikes

Mock Orange Bikes was established in 2003, as a partnership between Charles von Isenburg (founding member of more than one local shop) and Chip Duckett (local enthusiast, Dr., and entrepreneur). The idea was to establish a small shop in a cool town as something of a throwback to a simpler time, when bike shops were as much of a social gathering place as they were a business. Over the next two years and with swift growth it became anything but simple. We quickly outgrew the original Mocksville location and in response to great demand we moved to Winston-Salem in early 2006. Our new locaton in the old (circa 1927)Summit Pharmacy building enabled us to keep our cool and funky atmosphere yet also let us offer a more sophisticated range of products and services. As part of the expansion, we took on new partners in Chris Ramm, J Smith, and Dave Whitley. This current team brings great diversity in interests and experience, yet with one great shared passion .....BIKES.

Shop Summary:
Cool shop, perfect location. The only criticism I can give is they don't have a large amount of stock or size choices, at least in the particular bikes I was looking for. Guys are nice and helpful, no attitude. They seem to care.

Customer Service:
Not pushy, but they don't ignore you either. I test rode a couple of bikes the other day and they were very helpful and didn't mind that I was out for a while. I pinch flatted a tube on one of the bikes and they said no worries. I take my wife's bike in for free tune ups (we bought it there) which is nice. I usually work on my own bike and have bought a couple of tools there. If they don't have it, they can get it pretty quickly. Bikes are very personal and I have my own preferences on brands, etc. and they don't seem to push anything on me. They'll order anything you want, probably. Planning on purchasing a full suspension there in the near future.

Other Comments:
Good shop, hope they stick around for a while.

Shop Summary:
I really like this shop, I'm from Winston Salem but live in Charlotte, and needed a few parts so I stopped in. They have almost always had what I needed, and the staff is more knowledgable than your average shop zombies. The shop itself is killer, from the actual building to the cycling inspired artwork. Excellent selection of bikes, from entry level cruisers to high end racers, in both mountain and road bikes. Also a good variety of brands.

Customer Service:
CS has been great. I came in one thursday at 5 before a trip out of town. Fell in love with the Bianchi San Jose, but they did not have my size built up. Instead of having to wait until I got back, they stopped what they were doing and built up my new rig. I had a blast on it the very next morning! That says a lot to me.

Other Comments:
One of my favorite things about this shop is that compared to most of the Charlotte area shops, they (Mock Orange) doesn't discriminate when it comes to bikes. I was in one time and a gentleman was picking up his brand new full ultegra carbon wunderbike. At the same time, a gentlemen came in with an old beater that needed a new tube so he could get to his fast food job. Both people were greeted just the same, and received the exact same level of attention and service. That is extremely refreshing to me....

Shop Summary:
Yes, just as said above but even more.If you broke it then Charles can fix it.. The rest of the guys in back are more than capable as well. Funky, Eclectic, and heads and tails above the rest.Have you been in the shops that begin with the letter (P) in Winston- one right off of Silas Creek and the other over by Peace Haven Road?? How many folks that work in these shops ride?? Or better yet does the owner or main partners ride?? Two guesses and the first one doesn't count. Everyone in the MOB rides. Nuff said?? I think so.

Customer Service:
AS good as it gets. If not better me thinks.. I race, I race a lot. I ride a lot. I ride so much that my wife said she was leaving. I hope she gives me that killer cheesecake recipe before she goes. Point is, I always see a Mock Orange employee or even ride with one or race with one more often than not. These guys can fix some stuff that I have never seen anyone fix before. Got a Cross bike?? They can hook a brother up. I bought a road bike from these folks back in April of 06. They let me ride at least 3 different bikes before I settled on one. I put at least ten to twenty miles on two of them. This was no just around the parking lot ride. Dude, just go there, -ummkay??

Other Comments:
Think I have said it all already.
Thanks for hearing me out.

Shop Summary:
Mock Orange Bikes is a shop which provides the whole package of experienced mechanics and sales persons, an easy going atmosphere, and honest answers. Also, this is not a standard "Wal-Mart" style store. MOB was designed with an artistic mindset so go check out the impressive gallery of bikes and parts on display. They also have many pictures of the store displays on their website.

Customer Service:
Excellent!!
