Bike Shop Owners! We have a new feature we call the Rating Badge. The Rating Badge is a small graphic image (150x58 pixels)
that displays your shop's rating and number of reviews on Mtbr.com. You can put it on your website and it allows all your
customers to review your shop. It also gives new customers the reviews and validation they need to buy from you. Just cut and paste the HTML
code found in the Rating Badge section of your review page. More details about the Rating Badge here»

Customer Service: The Lake Oswego store was my last gasp opportunity to get a 2008 GF Cobia in the State of Oregon. I was a two hour drive away but it was the bike I wanted and they had it! Great staff with excellent customer service. I was really getting tired of talking to 16yr olds who were more interested in talking to girlfriends about BMX than helping mtbr's. Bike Gallery was very professional and mature! I wasn't trying for the killer deal but their price for the bike was in line with everyone else was charging. They also gave me 10% off any accessory I wanted when I picked the bike up. Free tuneup also included.

Shop Summary: The best local chain in Portland. They carry a good selection of road, mountain and cruiser bikes (as well as a selection for younger children). While they may stick to the MSRP of items, they never have tried to sell me something that I didn't want or need.
Customer Service: They can be hit or miss on customer service. Usually you're greeted upon entering the store and asked if you need help, but not always especially if they're busy. They are very helpful in finding what you need or want. During a upgrade of my mountain bike they ordered the wheel I wanted for no extra charge as they didn't have exactly what I wanted in stock.
Their mechanics are the best. I've never had a complaint with any work they've done. They have also always taken the time to answer any questions I've had to my satisfaction.
They've been very helpful when buying bikes and even buying cycling clothes explaining my options and why some riders prefer one style over another.
Other Comments: The Bike Gallery used to be a Trek oriented shop (Trek, Gary Fisher, Lemond, and Klein). Recently I noticed them carrying other brands like Mountain Cycle and Rocky Mountain. This year they Added Kona.
So far I've bought three bikes from them, two of them on sale as they we're leftovers from a previous year. In all cases I recieved the same level of service regardless of the cost of the bike.
Being a large shop, previous model year bikes can usually be found here at a very good discount during the winter months.

Shop Summary: I only use Hollywood store but they have always treated me right. Pete one of the mechanics there really seems to know his stuff. Only complaint I have is that the prices are a bit high but everyones gotta make a buck right?

Shop Summary: 6 locations in the Portland area, The Bike Gallery has been around for over 30 years. The primary local dealer for Trek, Gary Fisher, Klein, LeMond and Orbea, among others. Stores are smaller and have less selection than River City Bicycles, but they make up for this with superior service and more locations.
Customer Service: Simply awesome. These guys know their stuff. They know what works, what doesn't and how to fix it better than anyone else in town. If you come in with a problem, they will take care of you and they will solve it. I've gotten a lot of advice at BG (especially at the service department) and they have never steered me wrong.
They also have the best bike fitters, wheelbuilders and fix-it welders in town, all of which I know from personal experience. Most of my business has been at the downtown store, because these guys understand the needs of commuters so well. I've also had great experiences at the Hollywood and Beaverton stores.
Other Comments: Bonus points for opening early during the Tour de France so we can come in and watch it live.
More bonus points for sponsoring events like the Bridge Pedal, Hottest/Wettest Day of the Year Ride, Midsummer Night Ride and Cycle Oregon.
Minus points for charging $5 for "special orders" out of the QBP catalog, which any online or brick-and-mortar shmoe can do. The only way to compete with the Internet is to offer superior service, which BG does to a tee. I'm willing to pay a higher price at the LBS, but on simple principle I refuse to pay a fee just because I want a standard part that they don't stock.
Despite the special order policy, 5 stars across the board.
