Bike Shop Owners! We have a new feature we call the Rating Badge. The Rating Badge is a small graphic image (150x58 pixels)
that displays your shop's rating and number of reviews on Mtbr.com. You can put it on your website and it allows all your
customers to review your shop. It also gives new customers the reviews and validation they need to buy from you. Just cut and paste the HTML
code found in the Rating Badge section of your review page. More details about the Rating Badge here»

Shop Summary: It's a mixed bag. Some of the peeps at the shop are really cool, and want to help you out. Others are busy preening and prancing about for each other, and couldn't be bothered to help out. It's a real shame - the store has a great selection of all things bike. I really really wanted to like this shop.
I took my (beloved, custom built Specialized S-Works Epic) to them a few times for maintenance. Afterall, they *ARE* an authorized Specialized shop (both selling and maintenance). They screwed my bike up so badly - rear deraileurs that didn't have any problems going in, no longer shifted properly. I had my brake pads changed when they re-bled my hydraulic brakes ... and they forgot to put a brake pad in - obviously didn't even bother to squeeze the levers to make sure the wheel stopped spinning after servicing them. Are you kidding me?
I complained a couple of times - trying to be super reasonable, realizing they're very busy, and maybe some green wrench just got screwed up and flustered. I gave them another chance at it, and nothing was fixed, other than the brake pad put back in.
Customer Service: They have a good selection of road bikes (lots of great high end stuff), and a passable selection of mountain bikes. They have tons of parts and pieces, clothing and accessories.
Unfortunately - I have to agree with most of the other peeps leaving reviews here. The staff is pretty snobby (in general - not all of them, some of them have been great), and seem more interested in their social standing with each other more than helping customers.
God help you if you have them wrench on your bike. They screwed up my mountain bike so badly, so many times - I WILL NEVER TAKE A BIKE THERE FOR MAINTENANCE AGAIN !! Sorry to shout at you - but that's how strongly I feel about it.
Other Comments: I had to take my rear shock (Fox "Brain" built for Specialized) in to be rebuilt after 3 years of hard racing on it. They told me it'd take them 2 weeks to ship it back to Specialized, get it rebuilt, and get it back. I checked in with them after 10 days. They said they had no record of my shock being brought in. I spent 30 minutes on the phone, bouncing around to different people. Then they finally found my maintenance slip, and the shock. Right - they found the shock in their store - which hadn't even been shipped to Specialized yet.
I called them again, 10 days latter, and they basically blew me off with "Dude, we don't have a clue when it'll get back...just chill out...". I called back a week later, and they still didn't have a clue. I asked them to call Specialized to find out what was up. They said they couldn't do that. I escalated it to the floor manager, and he said they don't have any contact info for the repair/rebuilt shop at Specialized. I asked him to call their general service number, and find out who to talk to. He said he was pretty busy and he'd try and "get around to it" in a day or so. Two weeks later, they finally tell me they got it back. Cri

Shop Summary: Big shop with lots of bling bling road bikes. Not a whole lot of Mt.bikes in stock.
Customer Service: Sales people are a bunch of snotty hipsters who seem to be too busy BSing with each other to help you. If you do find help they look down their noses at you if you don't have shaved legs and want/need road bike stuff. I can't comment on the service dept. because I haven't dealt with them.
Other Comments: If they have no interest in Mt.biking they should quit carrying them. If they were road bike only it would save us all a trip! Only go to River City as a last resort!!!

Shop Summary: I have been to this shop a number of times and only patronize this place because they tend to have harder to find parts in stock. I usually call 1st before coming in and the people in the service department are great and seem to know what they are talking about.
Customer Service: My biggest issue with this shop is the lack of customer service from their sales/floor people. Today I went there to purchase a Cannondale stem for a friend. I went directly to the service department and they guy brought out all the sizes that they had and compared it to the one that I brought in to replace.
Once I got to the cash register though it was a completely different story. This girl...can't really call her a lady because she was so rude was 1st to notice me, I put the stem on the counter on top of the sales slip that was to be used to check out with. She asked me if someone had already helped me like was I still looking for more things and I said yes someone in service took care of me. I then looked at her and said "Are you asking me if I need to be rung up?". She said "Yea..duh" then proceeded to turn around and have someone else ring me up.
Other Comments: To the owners and managers of this shop. I know that your average sale is much more than the measly $60 that I spent at your shop today but unless you teach your staff what customer service is then experiences such as this will be shared.
You're shop already has a less than fair reputation amongst mountain bikers in the Portland area. So may I suggest that you just sell road/cross and commuter bikes? That is all that your sales staff pay attention to.
Also on a side note...barely any of your staff smiles or shows a friendly face...well unless you are looking at the high end road bikes on your floor. They seem to congregate there.
Wonder how many people will read this and the other bad reviews you have and will go to another shop to buy? Think about how much your staff has cost you by treating a $60 purchase like an inconvenience. Just a thought.

Shop Summary: This is utterly the worst bike shop I have ever had the unfortunate chance to purchase from. They will take your money and turn their backs on your. Warranty and tune-ups are a nightmare.
Customer Service: Ryan, the service and warranty manager, is literally the worst I have ever dealt with. My frame has a crack, he told me to keep riding. I asked again to have it rectified and he told me he would charge me $100 in labor to break the bike down and then shipping to have the manufacturer look at it. Ryan even had the audacity to bad mouth the bike's manufacturer. Ryan said they were just desingers and didn't know anything about the materials they use.
Other Comments: If I were Ibis Cycles I would put a short leash on Ryan. It's bad enough to have the anxiety of a cracked frame, but to have a rep. from the bike shop where I bought it bad mouth the company, wow!

Shop Summary: They do not understand how to adjust a SIS system. The shop seems more interested in looking like hipsters than actually understanding how to work on a bike. Figure out how to do it yourself before you let them work on your bike.
Customer Service: They are ok on basic customer service.
