Bicycle Repair Collective
The Bicycle Repair Collective offers complete repair services on all types of bicycles. Bring your bike in for diagnosis or an estimate. In addition to specific repairs such as wheel truing, gear adjustment, etc., we may suggest one of the repair packages described below. These cover the entire bicycle and address most safety and performance issues.
We stock a variety of carefully selected accessories and parts for your commuting and recreational riding needs. You'll find Bell and Giro helmets; Zefal, Topeak, and Planet Bike pumps; Burley raingear, all kinds of lights, fenders, gloves, toolkits. Need to carry things on your bike? We have ways: steel baskets, mini-bags, racks, racktop bags, Lone Peak small pannier sets, Jandd messenger bags, and Sunlite waterproof bag sets.
As a repair-focused business, we naturally have on hand the hardware to repair and upgrade your bike, including derailleurs, brakes, bottom brackets, headsets, hubs, rims, shift levers, chains, and all types of tires. We offer speedy special ordering for items that we don't normally stock.
Public workspace and tool rental: Fix it yourself!! Workstands, tools, supplies (grease, oil, shop towels, work aprons, and a few other things), plus a little guidance are included in the workspace rental fee. For more intensive lessons or assistance, a labor fee is charged. We do not offer formal classes at this time.
Shop Summary: A great resource for the competent home mechanic who occasionally needs to use spendy tools that it's hard to justify buying.
Customer Service: No complaints, but I'm pretty knowledgable and don't ask a lot of questions beyond "where is.....?" They must be doing something right because they've been around forever.
Other Comments: Anyone who doesn't walk up the street to the Horse Brass Pub for a pint or three after fixing their bike is of highly questionable moral fiber IMO.

Shop Summary: This is a place where you can go and work on your bike. They have all the tools you may choose to not buy, like a headset press. Nice environment except for the nauseating public redio.
Customer Service: The people there are not particularly helpful, but I could care less because I don't need their help. I find the tools and go to work. I think it is $5 an hour, which, is cheap. They also don't know squat about high-end bike stuff; this is particularly true about mountain bikes. They work on hippy bikes all day. You know, the bikes with political stickers on them.
Other Comments: I have heard they build good wheels. It is their thing. All in all, a great place to go and work on your bike. They will help, but would rather not for $5 an hour. I guess I don't blame 'em. I thought they would teach you how to build a wheel for a fee. Check it out.
