Bike Shop Owners! We have a new feature we call the Rating Badge. The Rating Badge is a small graphic image (150x58 pixels) that displays your shop's rating and number of reviews on Mtbr.com. You can put it on your website and it allows all your customers to review your shop. It also gives new customers the reviews and validation they need to buy from you. Just cut and paste the HTML code found in the Rating Badge section of your review page. More details about the Rating Badge here»
Willamette Mountain Mercantile

This home-town community bike shop is one of the best in Oregon. I have been to several bike shops in Oregon and Idaho and this one beats them all. The knowledge base of the people who work in this shop is unmatched. Some of the shops that I've been to before get stuck on one or two models of bike and they try to sell the same bike to people who are totally different. People have different riding styles and different body compositions, and the people at Willamette Mountain Mercantile will take the time to learn about who you are and what kind of riding you do, and then fit you with the absolute perfect bike. The workmanship is elite. McKenzie, the owner, is in the shop working along side his wife and other mechanics and is always willing to answer a question, or help you with you bicycle. I recently purchased a mountain bike from Willamette Mountain Mercantile, and I am shocked that people like the ones in this shop exist. The bike was priced exceptionally, the service was great, and the comfort of the entire experience was more than I ever expected. If you are ever in Oakridge, and if you are a mountain biker you should be in Oakridge, stop in and check this shop out before you leave, or better yet, as soon as you get there.

Shop Summary:
Nice shop for a small town.

Customer Service:
Exceptional, Eugene was very helpful

Other Comments:
I was up at waldo lake for a week, and broke 3 spokes. Drove my wheel down to Oakridge and Eugene fixed me up. He didn't try to sell me a new wheel like the last shop did when i broke a spoke. Then later that day my free hub seized up(maybe i should have bought a new wheel), I called and they had the hub i needed, i was very supprised, and again when i found out they were open on sunday so i could get it fixed. prices were very reasonable.

Shop Summary:
I live in Portland and I can get deals from friends at just about every shop in town, but when I go through Oakridge I always stop at WMM.

Even if I don't need anything I'll buy some backup gear just to say hi, and support this AMAZING shop.

Customer Service:
The customer service at WMM makes me so happy I don't want to go back to my LBS.

I've never seen anyone treat people well as McKenzie does. My riding crew easily spends $10,000/year on bike gear in Portland, but McKenzie treats a stranger needing a $2 part better than my local shop I just spent $4000 at.

Other Comments:
I just came back from my latest trip to Oakridge yesterday and felt the need to share my experience with the rest of you.

Last weekend while riding at Willamette Pass I had a few mechanical issues (tore a peddle out of my crank and broke a brake lever) so I headed in WMM to see what they could do. After talking with McKenzie for a while, he suggested I dig through their parts drawers to try and find a fix (even though they had new parts to sell me). He ultimately saved me $300 (or so) by being able to help me "fix" my bike well enough to finish off the weekend, rather than replacing my parts with the on-hand (not my ideal) stuff they had in stock. McKenzie even offered to let me borrow the parts and return them if I didn't use them, or pay for them the next day if I did use them. I can't fathom a shop in town treating a regular, much less a stranger this well.

This is ABOVE AND BEYOND my wildest expectations! If it wasn't a 7 hour round trip from Portland I'd buy everything at this shop.

Portland bike shops, you could learn a lot from McKenzie!

PS. This isn't special treatment I'm receiving, I saw McKenzie treat everyone who walks in to his shop this way.

A+++++

Shop Summary:
I added this bike shop and wrote the review. This bike shop is unlike any other I've ever seen! They sell Mountain Cycle, Haro, Jamis, Del Sol, Answer, Fox, Everything! They also sell hiking boots, camping gear, backpacks, work clothing, ski equipment, and they rent out bikes, skis, snow shoes, ect. Everything is priced awsome....like as good as on the internet!

Customer Service:
Exceptional!
