Shop Summary:
A bicycle boutique. Trek, Orbea, Independent Fab, Yeti - all they need is Cervelo and Specialized and they'll have a monopoly on all the most overpriced bikes outside of Italy.

All their brands make good bikes, but not a single one is doing anything that justifies the asking price.

Customer Service:
Very knowledgeable, skilled staff. They hire, and apparently train good mechanics and salespeople. One of my favorite mechanics in Bend came from Sunnyside and he does a great job with my bike. With that said, I can see why he left. If I had to work around attitudes like these, I'd probably find another job, too.

If you're looking for anything in an entry level bike, eyes glaze over, conversation deteriorates into them giving what sounds like a generic speech about whatever type of bike. They're always rushed, and it makes me feel rushed.

I just feel like I'm in the way every time I go there.

Other Comments:
Sunnyside Sports is the oldest bike shop in Bend and has enough of a following that it will probably always be there. I still go there for the occasional odd item that I can't find somewhere else. I just don't know if the attitude is worth dealing with, especially when I can get the technical expertise elsewhere without the elitist attitude.

Shop Summary:
This shop has the biggest attitude of any in town. 10 out of 12 times I've been in the shop, I was completely ignored by the staff. And the other 2 times, they didn't have what I needed (and what I needed wasn't exotic at all). They really do spend more time clustered around their service counter talking to each other than taking care of customers. Not sure why this shop has such a following. I guess if you look like you have a wad a of cash and have a big house on nearby Awbrey Butte, they might serve you better.

Customer Service:
Non-existent. You can do two laps around the store and not have a soul talk to you.

Other Comments:
Such a shame because they have good brands and are involved in the community and local rides/races. Too bad they only feel like serving some of their customers and write the rest of us off.

Shop Summary:
I always have a great experience at this shop. They have a great selection for all price ranges and most styles of riding. You can trust that the staff there is honest and knowledgable. I have purchased my last two bikes there and will be buying my next there also.

Customer Service:
The customer service is just what I want from a bike shop. They do not push the latest and greatest on you. They do give you their honest opinion on what bike will best suit you. More often than not they recommend something cheaper than the item I was drooling over.

Shop Summary:
The shop is easy to find here on Newport Market road, they have nice stock with high end bikes and they are loaded with all sorts of goodies. Their staff are all very knowledgeable about the products they sell and it is nice to know they are not feeding you with hype. I recently purchased a new steed and they worked with me on my new 2008 Yeti 575 which I absolutely love. This bike pedals so well and it climbs really well and with the linkage the RP23 rocks the hits. I took it on my first epic 40+ miler on Monday the 19th of May and it was a lot of fun. The best full suspension bike I have ever ridden. Sunnnyside Sports offers an amazing assortment of rental bikes for all sizes.

Customer Service:
This is always a challenging arena since there is so much going on in the shop with locals, visitors passing through, new residents to Bend etc. I would have to say that once you have their attention on a particular product they hold on like a pit bull to a bone and will not let go until you are satisfied with your inquiry. I have had numerous great experiences with this shop and they have always made me feel welcome and who else in town offers fantastic coffee brewed through their own machine. I have to say the Jody gets an A+ for one on one attention to detail and this is not only from me but some friends outside have visited and they said admirable things about Jody. Seth, Jacob, Chris, Joan, Don, Susan have all been wonderful and the rest of you awesome crew....thank you!!

Other Comments:
My brother and I have visited many, many bike shops throughout out life in this biking life and few are up to par with customer service. Sunnyside Sports and perhaps two others have been great but the rest have been very disappointing. With the other shops, that are poor, they offer a first time good experience but cannot hold onto the consistent good customer service and are not willing to work with you. It is almost like the fast food industry where you rush in get what you want and rush out but the bike shops would not care if you were a potential long termer or short termer. Bad business. Sunnyside excels here by having so many dynamic personalities there that offer a wide range of customer services. Thanks.

Shop Summary:
Good selection of bikes and very knowledgeable gear heads.

Customer Service:
Sales staff less than responsive once you're not purchasing top of the line or you want to upgrade wheelsets on a mid-level bike. Still waiting for a quote on an Orbea Onix. Guess I'll go to Hutch's or another bike shop in the valley to spend my couple thousand.
