Cross Country Rider Shop Summary: I was in Bend on vacation end of August 2009. My bike was damaged right before I headed up there for a week of riding. Sagebrush set me up for a great price on a new Intense rental. Bike was in great shape. They took the time to ensure the sag was set correctly and bike was functioning well. They even threw in the local trail map. I must say I was quite please by the customer service and appreciate the time the owner took to offer some epic ride suggestions. Would most certainly make this shop my first stop next time I'm in Bend. Thank guys.
Justin

Cross Country Rider Shop Summary: It was kind of nice to walk into a shop and not feel like you're in the way. I like their new space on Century Drive, it feels bigger than the old place. James (owner) is kind of a geek, but he's growing on me and he seems more knowledgeable than other shop owners in Bend.
They seem to stock bikes for normal people, lots of mountainbikes under $1,000. You'll see pretty cool bikes and parts in this shop, but not much over the $4,000 mark. They sell Jamis and Santa Cruz mostly, but they recently picked up Rocky Mountain. First time I've seen a Rocky Mountain in person, but I already want one. Customer Service: James hired a new head mechanic this year named Eric. Apparently Eric started out with Sunnyside Sports a long time ago (10yrs?) and has been a mechanic in various bike shops in different cities since then. He seems to be more in tune with bikes than people, which is okay with me. He's a nice enough guy and I'd rather get a great tune-up from a gruff mechanic than a crappy tune from a phony schmoozer. Eric does good work.
Not many questions that can't be answered between James and Eric, and Eric solved my derailleur problem that Hutch's, Sunnyside, and Bend Biken Sport couldn't seem to fix. The two seem to take bicycles pretty seriously. Other Comments: Don't go looking for used bikes here. I asked, and they said that they could make good money with them, but the personal cost wasn't worth it. I think Eric's exact words were "we have to sleep at night". So, this shop is more about quality than anything else.
Can't say enough good things about these guys. They're still pretty new and trying to make a name for themselves, and I hope they do. Sagebrush Cycles is probably the best kept secret of Bend's bike shops right now.

Weekend Warrior Shop Summary: I think they just moved to a new location Century Drive, next to Fly and Field outfitters. Nice shop with great brands (Look, BH, Pivot, Santa Cruz, and more). Definitely would rather go here than the other shop in town that sells Santa Cruz. Customer Service: Super helpful and personal service.
