Weekend Warrior Shop Summary: Small, limited selection, elitist attitude. Customer Service: Poor if you aren't one of Sparrow's EXTREME all-mountain posse. Other Comments: Horrible shop - charged me $8.75 for 45 seconds of work on my disc brakes. Unless you are one of the in-crowd of Rapid City's mountain bike community, they will F!@# you over. The elitists love it, the regular guy goes to Two Wheeler Dealer or Scheel's. I have lived in large metropolitan areas as well as small towns and this shop is the epitome of the cycling community at its worst.

Weekend Warrior Shop Summary: I have heard a lot of good things about Tim at Acme Bikes. So I had Tim build a 29er for me. The quality of the build seems fine but my overall experience was NOT an enjoyable one. I believe this bike shop is good for riders that are more experienced and have a better working knowledge of the mechanics in mountain biking. I personally am not a newbie, but I was venturing into new territory with a 29er. So... I was hoping that Tim would be able to give me some words of wisdom with the mechanics of my 29er. Unfortunately it seemed that Tim was too busy to answer any of my questions/concerns and once I gave him my check he immediately ran out of the store to make his Friday afternoon deposit at his bank… weird… This left one of his lackeys behind to try to attempt to answer my questions. I waited a half hour for Tim to come back. Unfortunately I was pressed for time and told his lackey that I would have to catch up with Tim some other time. But that would prove difficult since I live 100 miles away.
To be honest 2 wheeler dealer, whom I don't care for away, is just as good as acme bikes, with the exception of having a staff that is actually willing to give advise. Personally I live in chadron and have a local bike shop here with a guy who is very knowledgeably about all ascpets of biking. Eveything down to the physics of biking. And he is willing to dispense his knowledge about mountain biking as well. With that I would only recommend Acme to people who already know what they want...

Weekend Warrior Shop Summary: Small shop with great atmosphere, even has a resident dog who loves children ("they taste great!"). Nice location with the city bike path less than 100 yards away for a quick test ride. Customer Service: Outstanding customer service in both sales and repairs. Tim is up to date with bicycle technology and rides almost daily, and therefore fully understands the ins and outs of the latest suspension designs, disc brakes, etc., the same holds true for his employees Bob and Burt. How many local shop owners can say they OWN and RIDE the following: single speed, 6" travel all mt bike, 7" freeride bike, dirt jumper, road bike, Mt. tandem, road tandem, 24" bmx bike? Other Comments: Acme is very involved in the local cycling community by holding races and rides. Tim is also involved in local trail advocacy and development by working with local City Parks and Recreation, National Forest Service, as well as supporting IMBA and attending IMBA Conferences. Acme seems to be there in times of need, such as helping needy children in the YMCA unicycle club, or setting up a trike for a stroke patient who was previously an active cyclist.
