Shop Summary:
I was shopping for a new bike to ride around town on. I sold my Haro mountain bike because it wasn't comfortable unless you're eating a trail with it. I read about a lot of bikes and a lot of local shops. Each shop pretty much carries a different line or make of bikes. I went to Buck's to see what styles they carried. Charles asked what I was looking for and pointed me to a Raleigh and said "this is what you want". I sat on it and came back and rode it 3 times before buying it (he was right!). They were real patient and just went and got the bike and said give it a go.
I wanted the bike to ride the Lady Bird Lake Hike/Bike trail and the Johnson Hike/Bike Path as well as getting around downtown and to my grocery store.
I rode and looked at a lot of bikes over a week's time. Trek(7.3 and 7300), Cannondale Quick 6, Scott, etc. My priorities were comfort, weight, price and look (in that order). The Trek and the Raleigh (Detour 4.5 with step through frame in light green), had comparable ride and comfort for me. What I found was the Raleigh was $200 less and was in my favorite color. I really liked the Trek and know they make a frame like no other but a difference of $200 made it all okay. PLUS I owned a Raleigh mountain bike for 10 years and it was GREAT.

Customer Service:
The guys at the bike shop were great, friendly but not pushy. They rang my bike up without asking if wanted lock or helmet or anything. So I bought those two items at University Cyclery. I needed a new helmet but because I told them I ride they probably figured I had those things.
So summary...easy shopping, looking and trying at Buck's. They put on a bottle rack and threw in a Buck's logo water bottle on top for grins.
I went to the Austin (183 N) location. Thanks!

Other Comments:
I've been riding my Raleigh Detour 4.5 with step through frame in light green for several days straight now and I am so in love with it. It rides so well and can go for miles and miles and hop off without my back hurting. The gears shift cleanly and the bike is light enough to take bumps and rough terrain with ease. Did I mention it's in my favorite color?

Shop Summary:
Many bikes to choice from. Helped locate the right bike for me. Have loved every sec. of being on it!!!

Customer Service:
Service shop is A+! Great work Steven! As for sales department, I really didn't feel welcome. They gave off the vibe of your just a newbie, your wasting my time! Was able to answer all of my questions though.

Other Comments:
After getting bike home and setting it up, I noticed several things that struck me as odd. First, the rear wheel had several points on it where it looked like someone had taken a black Sharpie to fix scuff marks. Seconded, I had them put metal pedals since it came factory with plastic pedals. The metal pedals they put on were broken and missing screws. You would think after spending $1300 with them they could given me a nicer set of pedals.

Don't know if I would buy from them again.

The guys at Buck's were great in helping to rehab my 91 Bianchi Grizzly when I got back into riding recently. Very casual, friendly atmosphere.
