Shop Summary:
Wear your spandex in if expect to be treated unlike you are a gypsy who rode in on a tricycle. Several times I have gone in with money in hand - once to get a new bike - cash in hand! - several times to get service- I live two blocks away! Each time turned away without any money exchanged - turned away by people who did not see any value in my business - amusing - and had no regard for me as a person - went elsewhere and spent my money with ease - I suppose that these folks are owned by Tallisker in Canada and will soon deny us our back country skiiing. Money in hand! honestly - you trade here ? You are getting fleeced and you like to be screwed.
Honest opinion from visiting ten times over several years- they must stay in business by catering to a customer base who want to be treated like dirt - and enjoy it! Gave them every chance - it is amusing. Other shops in town who are friendly to people who bicycle.i friendly...willing to service...wow. Vail wannabees welcome.

Shop Summary:
I've lived on both the West and East coasts and this is one of the, if not the, best shops I've been to. Every time I'm in Salt Lake I make sure to visit Contender.

Customer Service:
I have always had an excellent experience. Greeted right when I come in the door. Very knowledgeable, but not pushy.

Other Comments:
Great shop, great people.

Shop Summary:
Great things about the shop
-Knowledgeable staff,
-Wide range of bicycle brands
-Staff provides a good cost/benefit for newbies
-Staff takes measurements and fits you to the proper bicycle
-Great selection of components, clothes, and knowledge of trails
-Many local well known racers are often present at the shop
-Very clean/highly organized shop
-Very quick and efficient when doing basic repairs even when there shop is busy with customers the downside of this is that they are more expensive for these repairs compared to other shops (e.g. i had a rear flat tire with no tubes/pump/patches so had them replace it and it was 12dollars for the repair 4dollars for the tube, 8 for labor)

overall they are a great shop, i have and would recommend them to a newbie or a seasoned racer

Customer Service:
very knowledgeable staff they know there products and there competitors, they have used the products and can recommend ones to buy and ones to pass on.

Other Comments:
quick efficient shop that i would highly recommend to friends/family some things are more expensive than other shops but that is why we have phones and can call and price check - they also are a great source of information about epic rides in utah both road and mountain

Shop Summary:
I have to agree with the last post. Some of the claims made on previous reviews seem... a little extreme. I recently visited the shop for the first time looking to buy a cyclocross bike. I had looked at what was out there and already had a pretty good idea of what I could afford and what I wanted. The guys at the shop worked with me and went through a lot of effort to make sure that I got the right bike for me. Buying a bike from them was a great overall experience!

Customer Service:
Like I said, buying a bike there was a positive experience. At least for me, a lot of effort was put in to finding that perfect bike that fit what I wanted and could afford, rather than just trying to sell me a bike as quickly or as expensively as they could. The staff seemed extremely knowledgeable.

Shop Summary:
Great variety of cycles, gear, etc. Staff is friendly and helpful.

Customer Service:
Very good.

Other Comments:
Previous review is totally off base. Their prices are marked at manufacturers retail on most items. I have had other shops in town reluctantly match theirs because their prices are the best. A recent example...fulcrum racing one wheel set at several shops - 1400.00. Contender's price - 1099.00 which is what fulcrum website indicates. Another false claim about them is that they try to sell only one thing, ie Time. I told them my budget and they instantly responded by showing me my options. Never did they try to dissuade me from my budget. They are professional and have a good knowledge of what is out there. The previous review is a wholly inaccurate representation of one of the nicest shops in Salt Lake. And no, I don't work or own the place!
