Cross Country Rider Shop Summary: clean; sufficient; pleasant Customer Service: courteous but hell bent on dumping a bike. sold me a bike with cranks way too long, more than 5mm. possibly, the frame is wrong as well--working with someone else, some controversy. their fitting did not at any point discuss crank length. I did not know until I ran into a knee problem. Other Comments: go in with a very good idea what works for you or leave with the wrong fit. some might suggest, no duh, but plenty of factors go into fitting a bike that most are not going to know. if you cannot trust the people selling the bike to get it right, that will leave many, like me, with a knee problem or bad experiences on the bike.

Cross Country Rider Shop Summary: I've been going to Bikebeat since they opened. Its a bit on the goody goody side for me and everyone seems a little churchy, but they know what theyre talking about. Everything in the store is pricey, because its in Williamsburg and they know who theyre catering to. Id rather go to Contes. All in all def. try them out and see if you like Treks or Felt bikes more than Specialized or what have you.

Cross Country Rider Shop Summary: Not a big shop but an adequate selection of bikes and accessories. Customer Service: Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Always helpful and willing to special order if they don't have an item in stock. Other Comments: Excellent mechanics. These guys are knowledgeable about mtb'ing and directions to local trails are available in the store.

Weekend Warrior Shop Summary: Snobs. Prices too high. The staff didn't even seem to ride. Customer Service: Snobbish. Other Comments: I don't own Trek or Gary Fisher, there's a much more friendly shop a couples miles away, so I won't waste my time with them again.

Weekend Warrior Shop Summary: Kind of small, but then most bike shops are. Friendly staff, knowledgable enough. Limited stock on hand, but they are always willing to order just about anything I want and it comes in quickly. They are usally a litte less expensive than the other shops in town. Customer Service: Always treated me good.
